Tripmasters is the consumer division of Solar Tours, a second generation family travel business. Maria Checa founded Solar Tours in 1984 to establish the first wholesale agency in the Washington DC area to specialize in vacations to Latin America. Maria had extensive experience as an owner and manager of travel agencies and airlines in both Peru and Nicaragua. She is a well known and respected figure in the travel industry. Her son Rafael Checa joined Solar Tours in 1997 and serves as its managing director. Rafael graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point, served with distinction for 10 years as an infantry officer in the US Army and earned an MBA from the Wharton School of Business before joining the family business.

We have gradually and carefully expanded our destinations to include all of Latin America, Europe, Asia as well as the beaches of Mexico, the Caribbean and Hawaii. We maintain our focus on reliably customizing complex vacation itineraries. Our experienced agents and our trip building and customization tools make it easy to plan flexible complex trips.
