Costa Rica does not currently require any vaccinations or immunizations for US citizens entering the country, always consult your physician or health practitioner about recommended procedures or immunizations, when traveling to foreign countries.

The Costa Rican currency is the Colon. The plural is Colones, and it is noted ₡. The Colon is divided into 100 Centimos. The US Dollar is also accepted unofficially in many places throughout Costa Rica.
Credit cards are widely accepted in restaurants, hotels, and stores, and ATMs can be found in most destinations, and although travelers check are a safe way to carry money, bank debit card are frequently the best way to secure a favorable exchange rate and reduce the stress.
Always advise your bank and credit card issuers, before traveling abroad.
Time Zone:
Costa Rica in the UTC/GMT -6 hour zone, which means that it is one hour earlier than Eastern Standard Time (New York). Costa Rica does not observe Daylight Savings Time, so during DST ( Typically March - November in the US ), Costa Rica will be 2 hours earlier than DST, on the east coast of America. Electricity:
Costa Rica uses 110 volt, 60 cycle electricity, same as the US. Plugs are typically the 2 pronged flat type so US travelers will not typically need a converter or adaptor.
