New London, located on the mouth of the Thames River on the Connecticut coast, is a historic city that flourished during early U.S. history for its role in the whaling, shipbuilding, and shipping industries. Today, New London is home to the United States Coast Guard Academy and it also well-known for historic buildings dating back to the Colonial era.
