Getting Around In Thailand
A visit to Thailand is an opportunity to discover a spectacular range of landscapes, so deciding how you will travel around this beautiful and exotic country can be as important as choosing where you want to go. A little research will help you match your mode of transportation to the style of holiday you have in mind. When you are considering transportation options, remember that Thailand is 1000 milles long, and has a land mass roughly twice the size of Oregon, so how you choose to get around in Thailand will depend on how quickly and comfortably you want to get there.
Air Travel
Air travel is the easiest and quickest way to travel in Thailand, as the distance covered by a one-hour flight can take up to twelve hours by bus or train.  We highly recommend that you choose the convenient and inexpensive option of traveling by air within Thailand, specially when traveling to the islands of Phuket and Koh Samui to the south, or north to Chiang Mai.
There are few direct flights within Thailand. Most full-service carriers will transfer your bags when transiting Bangkok, but keep in mind that you may have to claim your bags and check them back in for your connecting flights.
Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi (BKK) is the main International airport in Thailand, also serving as the regional and connectiong gateway to all domestic destinations. Thailand's domestic carriers are Thai Airways and Bangkok Airways, both operating services to most parts of the country with good schedules and competitive pricing.

Private Tours
Semi-escorted private tours offer the fastest service with personal attention and flexible schedules. It is specially suitable for individuals, couples, and families who want to have their own private travel experience with their own personal tour guide. Seat in Coach Tours
Popular semi-escorted tours join-in on a small group of varied tourists, with guaranteed departures that offer the perfect balance between value and great service while interacting with travelers from all over the world. Part of the trip will be in an air-conditioned coach with an English speaking tour guide.  Click here for our recommended Seat in Coach Tour.
Thailand by Train
The only train service we offer in Thailand is the overnight train from Chiang Mai to Bangkok, as an option included in the package Classic Thailand.  As an alternative to flying, the overnight train is fairly comfortable and saves you a hotel night. However, keep in mind that most trains are slow and prone to delays, making the long journey take between 12 to 15 hours.

Thailand by Car
Renting a car is one way to get around Thailand, but it is not recommended, unless you are very familiar with Thai laws and local traffic nuances. Traffic in Bangkok is unpredictable, and there are some very bad traffic hours. Driving is made more difficult by signs written in Thai only, and having to share the road with speeding and perilous taxi and tuktuk drivers. Furthermore, traffic moves on the left side of the road and cars are generally right-hand drive.Distances Between Bangkok and Other Thai Destinations

Airport Transfers
Private Transfer:
Whether transferring to and from the airport and your hotel, enjoying one of the spectacular daytrips available from nearly all of Thailand's most popular destinations, or on muti-night excursions, the private vehicle option is the best way to avoid stressful situations and insure that your vacation will begin as soon as you arrive. You and your party will be picked up at a convenient time and travel directly to your destination with an English speaking guide, in a comfortable modern air-conditioned vehicle. The private transfer option is a convenient, and relaxing way to travel, but it is of course more expensive, and everyone has different budgets and preferences.
Shared Transfer:
Shared transfer is a convenient and economical option which typically features air-conditioned buses with reclining seats. Multiple stops are made along the way to pick up and drop off other passengers, and we cannot control the order in which the stops are made. Compared to the Private transfer option, shared transfers may involve inconvenient scheduling, and increased travel time. Please consider this when choosing your mode of transportation in the booking process.
Bangkok Airport Rail Link:
The ARL has two lines operating daily from 6:00 a.m. to 12 midnight. The City line trains depart every 15  minutes and the Express line trains depart every 30 minutes. If traveling by ARL from/to Suvarnabhumi Airport  (BKK), it is recommended to take the Express train as it is larger, the seats are more comfortable and it has  luggage racks, while there are no luggage racks in the City line. Airport Rail Link could be a fast and cheap mode of transportation but considering that the Express line only operates from Makkasan, getting to/from the other  train stations will be very difficult if you have luggage. Also the connection from local lines to the airport line  is not easy and it involves long walking distances. More info at https://www.srtet.co.th/en/index.html.
