Getting Around In Australia
Australia is a massive country, but although there are great distances betweeen many of its capital cities, it is surprisingly easy to get aound to get around. Virgin beaches stretch a sfar as the eye can see, and seemingly endless deserts are all well within your reach. Travelers can sail the Whitsundays, cross the continent by car or ride the rails through a rainforest canopy. Below we look at some of the ways we can help you explore this vast and unimaginably diverse country.
Air Travel
Nearly all of Australia's most popular destinations are accessible by air, and there is excellent service throughout the country provided by a handful of airlines including Virgin Blue, Qantas, QantasLink and Jetstar. There are regularly scheduled flights to every capital city, most major regional towns on the east coast, Tasmania, and Western Australia. The few exceptions to this include some of the Great Barrier Reef islands, which are typically accessed by boat from Cairns, Port Douglas, Mission Beach or Townsville, and Kangaroo Island, which can be reached by ferry from Adelaide. Given Australia's size, flying is often the best way to maximize the number of can't-miss-destinations you can visit, and the amount of time you can spend exploring each in depth.

Australia by Train
The rail service in Australia is clean, comfortable, and safe with an extensive network of lines that cover many of the country's most popular locations. The Indian Pacific Line, known as the world's longest straight track section runs more than 4350Km from Perth to Sydney via Adelaide. In Adelaide, you can head north aboard the spectacular Ghan through some of Australia's most amazing terrain to Alice Springs and Darwin, or continue along the south coast to Melbourne on The Overland. From here The XPT continues to Sydney and Brisbane, and from Brisbane The Sunlander follows the coastline through Queensland all the way to Cairns where boat connections are available for the Great Barrier Reef and its splendid island destinations.

Ground Transportation

Ground transportation is a popular way to get around in Australia. Whether for hotel-airport transfers, daytrips, multi-day excursions, or exploring this extraordinary country in you're own car, there are three basic modes of overland transportation:

Private Transfer:
Whether transferring to and from the airport and your hotel, enjoying one of the spectacular daytrips available from nearly all of Australia's most popular destinations, or on muti-night excursions, the private vehicle option is the best way to avoid stressful situations and insure that your vacation will begin as soon as you arrive Down Under. You and your party will be picked up at a convenient time and travel directly to your destination. All of our private vehicles are modern and comfortable, with air conditioning and experienced drivers who are familiar with the local areas. When available the private transfer is a convenient, and relaxing way to travel, but it is of course more expensive, and everyone has different budgets and preferences.

Shared Transfer:
Shared transfers typically feature air-conditioned buses, and reclining seats. Multiple stops are made along the way to pick up and drop off other passengers, and we cannot control the order in which the stops are made. Shared transfers are more economical than private transport, but may involve inconvenient scheduling, and increased travel time. Please consider this when choosing your modes of transportation in the booking process.

Car Rental:
If you are an independent traveler, and want to explore and experience this breathtaking country up close and personal a car rental may be a good choice for you, but keep in mind that Australia is left-hand-drive, which may take some getting used to and many of the major cities are long distances apart. Distances Between Major Cities

Boat and Ferry
Australia is surrounded by water so there are some journeys where you need to take a boat or ferry. The islands of the Great Barrier Reef have many scheduled water links from Cairns, considered the gateway to the GBR, and Airlie Beach, Port Douglas, Mission Beach and Townsville. Sealink runs regular car ferries to and from Adelaide and amazing Kangaroo Island.
