CBD

The Brisbane Central Business District or CBD which is referred to locally as `The City`, is a flat and compact area in the city with easy access to the city`s main tourist attractions and within walking distance to the Brisbane River where a number of activities can be found. Queen Street Mall which is Queensland`s premier shopping destination is located in the heart of the CBD along with plenty of eateries. The CBD is the hub where people eat, shop and socialize as well as being the city`s financial district. International chain hotels are situated in the CBD including the Hilton Brisbane and the Brisbane Marriott Hotel. The city`s architecture features colonial style buildings and the streets here are named after female British Royalty (Margaret Street, Alice Street, Queen Street) which run from southwest to northeast and the southeast to northwest streets are named after male British Royalty (William Street, George Street). Nightlife in the CBD is amongst some of the best in the country with laneway bars, gastropubs and nightclubs along plenty of entertainment.

SOUTH BRISBANE

South Brisbane is a suburb that sits on the southern bank of the Brisbane River also known as `South Bank`. It is directly connected to the CBD by the Kurilpa, Victoria, and Goodwill bridges. This neighborhood is one of the most popular destinations in the city filled with restaurants, chic cafes, culture, and art featuring the Queensland Cultural Precinct and the Performing Arts Center as well as the State Library and the spectacular GOMA (Gallery of Modern Art). The South Bank Parklands consists of 42 acres of land along the riverside offering iconic landmarks such as the Wheel of Brisbane, an area packed with leisure and recreation, `Streets Beach` a man-made beach with pools and waves and lush green parkland. Visitors can divulge in world-class eateries, fashion boutiques, and five-star hotels. South Bank is the cultural hub of Brisbane, a cosmopolitan village and the host of hundreds of vibrant events and festivals throughout the year.
