The Great River Road takes adventure-seekers on the open road as it parallels the Mississippi River. The Great River Road in Illinois National Scenic Byway clocks in at 550 miles and is arguably the most gorgeous and picture-perfect segment of the drive. The middle segment of the National Scenic Byway passes through Nauvoo, Quincy, and Alton, among other towns and cities, with Hannibal, Ashburn, Louisiana and Clarksville directly opposite on the Missouri side.
