Tokyo hotel: small room (expected), pleasant staff, not much English (expected), they held our luggage which was helpful. The location was perfect, felt safe. They had a breakfast available for an additional cost. The hotel was clean.
Takayama: It is listed on your website as a Best Western but it has changed names back in 2021 so we were a bit alarmed to map it and Google Maps said "permanently closed". We went to the site where the Best Western was and they had our reservation. Whew! They were great. Loved the amenities of the steam room, hot tub, bikes for free use, etc. They spoke good English and gave us recommendations. They held our luggage on the last day after check...
