Lake Lure is a cathedral of mountain cliffs and our forefront is a rushing river and a serene lake. Here romance and charm converge with a storied history in a stunning setting. Relish in outdoor adventures, a hike in the woods, a thrilling mountain bike ride, a climb on a sheer rock face, a day on the water fishing, boating or kayaking. One of the most beautiful man-made lakes in the country, Lake Lure is nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Lake Lure was incorporated in 1927, and acquired the lake after which it is named in 1965. It is just under 4 hours from Raleigh, and only five minutes drive to Chimney Rock State Park.
