Lake Ontario is the easternmost of the five Great Lakes. The lake`s northern and southwestern shores are located in the province of Ontario in Canada, and the southern and eastern shores are located in the state of New York in the U.S. The largest city on Lake Ontario is Toronto, Canada`s largest city and the country`s commercial, cultural, and social epicenter. The largest city on the U.S. side is Rochester, New York, a gateway city to inland New York and the Finger Lakes.
The United States boasts 62 protected National Parks spread throughout 29 states, including two located along Lake Michigan. Altogether, the 62 parks in the U.S. park system cover approximately 52.2 million acres of land!

Lake Michigan is one of the five Great Lakes and the only one located completely inside the boundaries of the United States. It is referred to as `the Third Coast` and is known for its peaceful lakeside scenes and the best beaches you won`t find on either coast. The Quad Cities are located where the Rock River meets the Mississippi River. They are Rock Island and Moline on the Illinois side and Davenport and Bettendorf on the Iowa side. The Quad Cities are noteworthy historically as the site of the first rail bridge across the Mississippi River. Davenport`s `River Renaissance` and Moline`s urban renewal funded by John Deere (a company local to the area) have energized these cities, while Rock Island and Bettendorf have each held the title of `most livable small city` by the National Council of Mayors.
