Syracuse is the fifth-largest city in New York and the largest city adjacent to the eastern Finger Lakes. The downtown area of Syracuse sits to the southeast of Onondaga Lake and is home to such sights as the Erie Canal Museum and the Everson Museum of Art, designed by I.M. Pei. Other vibrant neighborhoods include University Hill southwest of downtown, with nightlife and shops geared toward those attending Syracuse University, and Little Italy northeast of downtown. Its home to the Erie Canal Museum, tracing the waterways history in the 1850 Weighlock Building. In the old state armory, the Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Science and Technology (MOST) offers interactive exhibits and a planetarium.
