The Dalles is located on a bend of the Columbia River at the east end of the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. It`s one of the oldest permanently occupied places in Oregon, significant to Native people for over ten millennia and to Euro-American settlers since the 1830s. The Dalles is the eastern gateway to the Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area, with plenty of opportunities for hiking, biking, fishing and paddling to your heart`s content. The Dalles is one of Oregon`s most historical cities and was known earlier in its history as the town at the end of the Oregon Trail.
