Traverse City is the largest city in northern Michigan, situated on the two arms of Grand Traverse Bay. It is nicknamed `the Cherry Capital` as the area produces more tart cherries than any other U.S. region, and hosts the annual National Cherry Festival each July. Traverse City is also located in one of the key winemaking regions of the Midwest.
