With this Self-Drive Package explore its main states and emblematic cities. Start in Missouri, visiting Kansas City (known for its barbecue, jazz heritage and fountains), then, continue to Kansas State, with a stay in Dodge City (the gateway to the -West history-, became a rowdy town famous for its saloons, outlaws, and Boot Hill Cemetery). After that, drive to New Mexico, spending unforgettable moments in Raton Pass (was one of the most important, segments of the Mountain Branch of the Santa Fe Trail), and finally, Santa Fe (New Mexico's state capital city). Located at the Kansas Teachers Hall of Fame, the Gunfighters Wax Museum features life-size sculptures of legendary figures Wyatt Earp and Sitting Bull. The Home of Stone Museum retains its original 1881 furnishings.

    The Raton Pass has served as an important transportation corridor since at least the start of the Santa Fe Trail in 1821. The pass has often been seen as a symbol of the trail’s hardships and of the boundary between Anglo and Hispanic cultures. The majority of the Trail followed one path, eventually splitting up into two branches in western Kansas: the Cimarron Route and the Mountain Branch. For some, discovering the Santa Fe Trail is a rewarding opportunity for reflection, while others enjoy the fantastic scenery it provides while uncovering the historical markers along the way.
