THE BEST TIME TO VISIT ST MAARTEN


The island of St Maarten boasts a tropical maritime climate with consistently high temperatures all year round. Temperatures on the island average around 81 degrees and very rarely exceed 93 degrees or fall below 68 degrees. The summer months run from June to August with daily average temperatures floating in the mid to high 80s with the hottest months being September, August, and then July. Temperatures feel hot with the high humidity with a chance of humidity throughout the year, usually in the form of sudden bursts of thunderstorms in the afternoons. The winter months don’t change too much regarding temperatures with averages ranging around 77-80 degrees and lows around 68 in the evening and lower humidity. The least humid month of the year is March and the most humid month is October.

The dry season is from January to April due to the Azores movement being high during this time of year. The island always benefits from the northeasterly trade winds keeping things cooler and breezy. The average water temperatures are 81 degrees and drop to around 78 in February. December to May is said to be the best time to visit the island with the best weather and less rainfall. The cheaper times to visit the island are May and June or between November and mid-December when hotels offer some of their best rates. Many hotels close during the offseason with the chance of hurricanes.
