BOGOTA - NEIGHBORHOODS

Airport Route

The El Dorado International Bogota Airport is located 9 miles away from the city center of Bogota. There are a vast number of different neighborhoods along the route to the airport, which is convenient to stay in for an early morning flight out. The airport is situated in the Fontibon district of Bogota and extends to the Engativa district. El Dorado Avenue also known as Calle 26 is one of the most important thoroughfares in the city, one of the most modern avenues in Bogota. Along the avenue are many large green spaces and gardens in the foothills of Cerro de Monserrate. There are good hotels, restaurants and nightlife spots found in the area.

Chapinero

The Chapinero neighborhood is one of the trendiest areas in the city, an area known as `Gay Hills` and the central gay district `Chapigay`, also popular with university students. A cool bohemian neighborhood boasting a good central location, making it the perfect location to stay. The area is also known as Bogota`s Gourmet zone or Zona G (G for Gourmet), where many of the city`s most prestigious and posh restaurants reside. The area is brimming with cafes, restaurants and bohemian bars that specialize in international cuisine as well as traditional Colombian food. The neighborhood buildings feature enchanting English characteristics, with `el Nogal` lined with European bakeries in an attractive area with plenty of entertainment options. The neighborhood is situated north of La Candelaria, with easy access to shopping along narrow tree-lined streets and world-famous coffee shops.

Chico Norte

The El Chico neighborhood is an upmarket area in the town of Chapinero, situated north of Bogota, part of the eastern hills. There are several parks in the area including Parque de la 93 and Park Virrey. The parks are great locations with walking, jogging and cycling trails as well as exercise classes. There are many popular restaurants and quality stores that surround the parks and the parks host many events throughout the year including concerts and festivals. There are a large number of hotels in this neighborhood which is a safe place to stay.

Unicentro

The Unicentro & El Centro is the commercial center of Bogota, a very busy and vibrant area boasting some great shopping and a very noisy nightlife. The international zone in this neighborhood is home to some of Colombia`s important companies where many high rises reside along with plenty of cafes and restaurants. Some of the most popular eateries that can be found in this area include Crepes & Waffles, Jeno`s Pizza, Whopper King and McDonald`s.

Parque 93

Parque de la 93 is an exclusive and trendy neighborhood located between Calle 93A and 93B which is a popular location for the city` elite. The pleasant neighborhood offers nice parks to roam around and has a laid-back atmosphere with amazing infrastructure. Home to a variety of high-end restaurants, trendy pubs, quaint cafes and happening bars, with an exciting area for nightlife filled with energy and music. There are many festivals held in the park here which offer beautiful views of the mountains. Be sure to visit the Centro 93 shopping center on Carrera 15 and Calle 93.

Usaquen

The picturesque neighborhood of Usaquen is situated in the northern part of the city which is home to many sightseeing locations. The neighborhood is popular for its Sunday market held in the large outdoor central plaza and surrounding streets. There are hundreds of stalls set up selling arts, crafts, food and traditional souvenirs along with live street performances. The cobblestone streets are lined with beautiful colonial style architecture buildings housed with wonderful restaurants and shops. The Hacienda Santa Barbara is a courtyard style mall brimming with upscales stores, boutiques, a supermarket and a cinema. The lively nightlife scene in Usaquen is one of a kind offering restaurants, bars and squares filled with a fun, vibrant atmosphere.

Zona Rosa

La Zona Rosa is the exclusive nightlife center of the city of Bogota brimming with restaurants, high-end clubs, and pubs. The neighborhood is situated between Carreras 11 and 15, where the fashionable Andino and Atlantis Malls, upscale boutiques and other great fashion stores are located. The tree-lined cobblestone streets of Zona Rosa offer the perfect location for a daytime or nighttime stroll in the pedestrian-only area. Dine in the amazing restaurants here, sip cocktails at the bars and clubs or make reservations at the famous Andres Carne de Res DC, which is a restaurant turned club that offers a pretty unique and amazing Colombian party experience.
