Ballina, on the River Moy, is a very interesting place to visit because of the numerous tombs (megaliths) found in and around the town. The town centre has retained its historic appearance with some notable architecture, including the 15th-century Moyne Abbey, and St Muredach`s Cathedral. Outside Ballina, on a small hill to the west, stands a dolmen that is 4,000 years old.
