Bratislava, located on the Danube River adjacent to the borders of Austria and Hungary, is the capital of Slovakia. Much like Prague, the Medieval and Renaissance eras meet the modern age in Bratislava, all while the contents of the city are hemmed in by vineyards, forests, and the Little Carpathian Mountains. The most famous attraction in the city is Bratislava Castle, a castle originally built in the 10th century, on top of the highest hill in the city. The pedestrian-only Old Town boasts such points of interest as the Old Town Hall, which is now a history museum, and the Roland Fountain. Both of those sights can be found on Main Square, still one of the hubs of social life in the city even after many centuries.
