The southern Croatian Istrian coast is centered around Pula, Croatian Istria`s largest city, and the seaside towns and villages along the 40-plus miles of coastline to the city`s north, south, and southeast. Pula is well-known for its 2,000-year-old Roman buildings such as the Pula Arena and the Temple of Augustus. The towns along the coast are famous for their beaches and breathtaking landscapes, such as the towns of Fazana and Medulin (the latter town is home to a sandy beach -- one of the only pebble-free beaches you will find in Istria). In addition to the cities already mentioned, other noteworthy towns, villages and resorts along the southern Istrian coast include Peroj, Valbandon, Stinjan, Pjescana Uvala, Vinkuran, Banjole, Pomer, and Liznjan.
