Public transportation options are limited in Alice Springs there are public buses, a hop-on hop-off bus tour and some taxis found in town. Buses depart from the Yeperenye Shopping Center on Hartley Street and a single bus ticket costs around $3 for three hours of unlimited travel, a one day ticket costs about $7. Buses run every 30 minutes Monday through Friday and on Saturday mornings with three main routes offered within the city.

The Alice Wanderer bus is the hop-on hop-off bus tour that travels to the major sights in town with a built-in tour guide giving commentary on the sights. The main stop is at the corner of Gregory Terrace and Railway Terrace. The tour costs about $42 and lasts over an hour, tickets can be purchased on board the bus.

Walking around the beautiful, quaint, downtown area of Alice Springs is a great way to explore the town and its attractions. The focal point in town is Todd Mall where a selection of Aboriginal art galleries and community events are held. The downtown is filled with historic buildings including the Overland Telegraph Station and the Old Courthouse, beautiful stone buildings that now house hotels, restaurants, and shops.

Alice Springs is a great place to ride a bike. The town is mostly flat and riding a bike is one of the best ways to get around. There are plenty of bicycle rentals available and bikes can be hired for around $25 a day. Many hotels and guesthouses have bikes for rent along with My Ride which is a rental company in town and Longhorn Bikes, both local companies. There are many sealed bike paths throughout the town and also options to ride a few miles outside of town on the provided paths.
