AYERS ROCK - GETTING AROUND

Getting around Ayers Rock can only be done by renting a car for your stay or taking the complimentary shuttle bus to get around the resort area of Ayers Rock Resort in Yulara . The only other options are to take organized tours to the attractions in the area. There are no local transportation options in the area but there are plenty of other unique options to see this vast area of land.

By Car

Having your own vehicle to get around the region is an excellent way to see the major landmarks and attractions that Central Australia`s `Red Center` has to offer. A car gives you the freedom and variety to go at your own pace and not have to follow a strict timetable or restricted schedule.

By Shuttle

Many of the resorts and hotels located in Alice Springs and Yulara offer complimentary shuttles around the resort areas. From the Ayers Rock Resort in Yulara, the shuttle leaves every 20 minutes from 10:30 am until midnight.

Ulura Express shuttle buses will take visitors to/from Ayers Rock Resort four times daily. The shuttles depart every 50 minutes from sunrise to sunset transporting travelers to Kata Tjuta.

By Foot

Walking around the spectacular parks and the vast desert area provides visitors with some of the most spectacular sights in the world. The stunning rock formations that Uluru is renowned for are amazing to see up close and personal. The many walking trails, tours, and organized hikes offer stunning scenery, lookout points, vast landscapes and nature which the region is known form. There are short, easy walks and longer more challenging walks available along with caves and watering holes through gorges and around the rock bases.

By Camel Ride

Camel rides are a great way to see the desert aboard the `ships of the desert`. Tours are offered for 30 minute or 1-hour rides and are most popular during sunrise and sunset where travelers get to see the `Red Center` in all its glory.

By Helicopter

For those looking for another unique way to see the desert, take a guided helicopter ride over Uluru and the surrounding areas. There are short 15 minute rides or 30 minutes offered.
