GETTING AROUND - BORACAY
The beach areas of Boracay are walkable and the main tourist area of White Beach features three beaches, Stations 1,2 and 3 which run for a few miles. There is a sandy beach path behind White Beach where eateries, bars, and shops are found and this is the main beach area where people come to watch the sunset. The island is small and measures 1.24 miles wide so it is even possible to walk from the West coast to the East coast beaches. The entire length of the island is only 4.24 miles.
By Moto Tricycle or PedicabThe classic type of transport on the island of Boracay is motorized tricycles and pedicabs which are used to travel longer distances. This type of transportation can be found all over the island and fares run around PHP 30 - 50 for a ride but prices go up a night and for longer distances. It is always good to negotiate your price.
By BoatBeing an island, boats are a popular mode of transport to reach other beaches and offshore islands. Paraw`s are the classic narrow hulled sailing boats found all along the beaches. These boats are available to rent for day trips to discover the secret beaches and nearby islands or for 30-minute sunset sails. A sunset cruise could cost around PHP 1,000 there are many different companies offering these tours. Catamarans can also be chartered for the day.
By BicycleBicycles can be rented on the island with many hotels and resorts offering these rentals to guests. Riding a bike is a great way to get to the different beaches and see the stunning island scenery. Bikes can be rented by the hour or for the day (around PHP 50).
RentalsMotorcycles can be rented for about PHP 200 per hour with many rental companies located along the main road by the D`Mall. Riding on the main beach path and beach by White Beach is not permitted. ATVs and Scooters are also available for rent on the island.
