KRABI - GETTING AROUND

The most popular and authentic option is the songtaews, converted trucks with seats in the truck bed. This is a cheap form of transportation with short rides costing around 10 - 40Baht per person. Songtaews can be found all around town and are predominant in front of the Krabi Town Bus terminal, the 7/11 on Maharat Road, Maharaj Soi 7 and running along the beach road.

By Boat

Krabi town is located on the coast meaning ferries, boats and traditional long-tail boats are plentiful in the area and the only means of transportation to some of the surrounding tropical islands. Boat trips to the islands take about 45 minutes from Krabi town with plenty of day trips offered on board. Ferry services connect Phuket, Ko Phi Phi, and Krabi as well as Koh Lanta and Koh Jum and can be caught from Khlong Chilat pier which is located just a few miles south-west of Krabi town and operate from 7 am - 8 pm. Many beaches are lined with long-tail boats that are willing to transport you across the waters.

By Car

Renting a car in Krabi provides you a convenient and cheap way to get around and explore the area with a great road network. However, it is not necessary to have a car due to transportation options found in town including boats to take you to the remote surrounding islands. Krabi is a relatively small town but if you are staying in Ao Nang beach then a car might be a good idea to get to your destination and travel around at your own leisure.

By Bus

Local buses run throughout town and to surrounding areas with frequent stops allowing passengers to hop on and off just about anywhere. Buses can be caught at bus stops around town or flagged down from the street and prices are cheap with tickets costing around 10 - 50Baht per person.

By Taxi

Motorcycle taxis are found all over town and provide a quick and cheap way to get around with prices ranging around 20 - 50Baht per person. It is advisable to agree on a price before you get on, passengers travel in sidecars. Motorbikes can also be rented in Krabi with many rental places located on Beach Road and costing approximately 150 - 200Baht.

Taxis in town are rare with songtaews and motorcycle taxis being more predominant. You can hire a car and driver for the day with a daily rate costing approximately 2,500Baht.

By Bicycle

Getting around Krabi by bike is a great way to explore and see the spectacular surroundings of this coastal town. Cycle around and get lost in the beauty of this beautiful coastal town with plenty of places to be discovered. Travel along the coastal road to the beaches and enjoy the beauty. Bicycle rentals are available in town.

By Foot

Getting around Krabi town on foot is one of the best ways to see the attractions and surroundings. The town is small enough to walk around and take in the surroundings of this quaint, authentic town. Wander around the Walking Night Street Market and purchase some local cuisine from the food stalls or that perfect souvenir to take home.
