GETTING AROUND - PATTAYA

By Foot

Walking around the beaches of Pattaya is a pleasant experience, soaking up the sunshine and soft white sands. The popular Beach Road runs parallel to Pattaya Beach brimming with street vendors, shops, restaurants, and beach bars. The main road in Pattaya is within walking distance to the main beach and can easily be explored on foot where more eateries and shopping options can be found. Most of the cities hotels are condensed into an area by the beach giving visitors access to many of the attractions on foot.

By Bicycle

Riding a bicycle around the beachside streets of Pattaya is a fun way to get around and explore the beaches, markets, restaurants, and shops found in town. The main beach area of Pattaya including several interesting sights and attractions is only about a mile long making it easy to explore on 2 wheels. In this area, there is an abundance of restaurants, cafes, bars, shops, and clubs. Some hotels and guesthouses might offer bikes to their guests for use if not there are plenty of bike rental shops around town.

By Motorcycle Taxi

There is an abundance of motorcycle taxis readily available in the city of Pattaya. This form of transportation can quickly transport one passenger from one place to another and is a convenient option to get around. Motorcycles can weave in and out of traffic making it a much quicker form of transport than the `baht buses` in town. The standardized price of moto-taxi costs between 20-60 baht depending upon the distance and duration of the ride.

By Songtaew

Songthaews or `Baht Buses` are one of the most common forms of transportation in Pattaya used by locals and tourists. Baht buses drive around the main areas in Pattaya providing rides on the back of a pick-up truck with two benches where passengers sit. The cost of a short journey on board one of these authentic trucks will cost around 10 baht, which is paid when you get off the bus. There are buzzers in the rear to press when you want to exit. You can wave down a baht bus from the street or find them around the beaches, shopping malls, and tourist attractions. One of the most frequently used routes on the baht bus is a circular route along Beach Road with a left on South Pattaya Road to Second Raod then to Dolphin Roundabout and back to Beach Road.

By Taxi

There are some metered taxis found in Pattaya, many are taxis that came from Bangkok with passengers and will take fares in the city while they wait to transport passengers traveling back to Bangkok. They can be found in abundance outside strategic locations such as shopping malls and on the main street in town. Many refuse to use their meters so it is best to negotiate the price before you take a ride.
