Puerto Villamil
Isabela Island is the largest island in the Galapagos archipelago measuring 75 miles long and covering 1,771 square miles of volcanic land where six volcanos stand. The highest point on the island stands at 5,600 feet above sea level at the summit of Wolf Volcano. The main town on the island is Puerto Villamil which sits at the southern end of the seahorse-shaped island. Puerto Villamil is a small port village where the majority of the residents of the island live and work. There are accommodations in town along with restaurants, bars and shops, access to the beach and other points of interest close to town that can be accessed by foot.
The area has a laid-back vibe with relaxing beaches and glistening blue waters, the streets are covered in sand and lined with tropical palm trees. It is a relatively quiet town where visitors can enjoy good food and unique places to stay, there isn’t much nightlife on Isabela, but there are some nice beachside bars. There is so much to see and do on Isabela including extensive wildlife and a variety of different landscapes.
