KRABI - BEACHES

Ao Nang

Ao Nang is a popular tourist neighborhood in Krabi and the most developed beach area. A vibrant small town with a long palm-fringed beach lined with limestone cliffs at one end, it is around 30-minute stroll from one end of town to the other. Accommodations here include luxury resorts and hotels situated along the beach with spectacular coastal views over the Andaman Sea. It is the primary departure point for island hopping, diving excursions and plenty of water activities including kayaking, snorkeling, swimming and more. The seafront promenade is filled with hotels, shops, restaurants, galleries, and spas. Ao Nang also hosts daily markets filled with fresh fruits, vegetables, and fresh seafood. There is plenty of nightlife to choose from in Ao Nang including restaurants, bars, club and live music and entertainment including `girly` bars and cabarets. This is one of the best places in Krabi to enjoy a Thai sunset.

Klong Muang Beach

Located to the north of Ao Nang and just south of TubKaak Beach is Klong Muang Beach, a peaceful tropical beach area offering a slice of `real` Thailand. Spectacular self-contained 5-star up-scale resorts line the beach, including The Ritz, The Sheraton, and Sofitel along with dining, shopping and relaxed nightlife in a luxury setting. The beach here stretches for around 2.5 miles lined with long-tail boats and sun-loungers where plenty of water sports are offered including stand up paddle boarding and canoes.

Tubkaak

Tubkaak Beach is Klong Muang`s neighboring beach area which sits just south of Ao Thalane on the western coast with spectacular views of the 13 islands that sit in the Andaman Sea. This idyllic destination is unique and the ideal place to get away from the hustle and bustle with a relaxing laid back island vibe. The Hang Nak Mountain, Mu Koh Phi Phi National Park and Khao Ngon Nak Viewpoint are all situated close by and provide walking trails through the lush tropical rainforest. The neighborhood features mostly five-star self-contained resorts providing the perfect tranquil beach setting for a relaxing vacation. Tubkaak translates to `home for visitors` and was used to film scenes from `Hangover 2` movie at the Phulay Bay Ritz-Carlton Hotel.

Railay

Railay Beach consists of four main areas including Railay West, Railay East, Phra Nang and Tonsai. The area sits on a peninsula between Krabi and Ao Nang and can only be accessed by boat due to the surrounding limestone cliffs that cut off access to the mainland. Railay is the rock climbing Mecca of Thailand, rock climbers travel here from all over the world to climb these amazing staggering limestone cliffs. The neighborhood consists of a wide range of accommodations including beachside resorts and bungalows along with the promenade and Railay Walking Street which are both lined with plenty of waterfront dining options, bars, and shopping. This secluded bay offers some of the most stunning scenery and is one of the most sought-after beach destinations in the Krabi Province. Railay West is the main arrival point on the peninsula where long-tail boats, ferries, and speedboats arrive and depart. Some of the main draws to this area are the incredible limestone cliffs, caves, viewpoints and hidden lagoons all set amongst the sparkling blue Andaman Sea.
