LA ROMANA - GETTING AROUND

By Motor Bikes

A very popular way of getting around the town is through riding motor bikes. The motor bikes are easily accessible due to the fact that the people who ride them are always out like taxis. Different people ask different prices, and the bikers always start with a high price. Be aware that the prices are always negotiable and they are used to bargaining. Be patient and you will pay a better price. It is also worth noting that some of these people driving the bikes aren’t experienced enough to drive around. There is no such thing as accident insurance when riding these bikes. If you are involved in an accident, it’s on you to pay the hospital bills or any bills that come with it. So ride at your own risk.

By Bus

Gua Guas is another name for buses. There are bus stations in La Romana that can take you outside of town, such as Santo Domingo, Bayahibe, Juan Dolio and beyond.

By Taxi

You'll find both taxis and motoconchos (motorized scooters) at the northeast corner of Parque Central in the heart of La Romana. A typical ride almost anywhere within town costs less than RD$75, with the average taxi ride costing less than RD$150. Prices are always to be negotiated, of course.

By Car

Most visitors don’t rent a car. If you do decide to go this route, Avis is a local car rental company in town.
