The sensational coral and limestone authentic island of Anguilla is ranked as the world`s luxury island destination. Known for its 33 impeccable palm-fringed beaches, rated among the best in the world, hypnotic blue coral-filled waters, glorious resorts and beachfront bungalows many homes to the rich and famous, relaxing reggae vibes and fantastic food. Endless pampering can be enjoyed at premium resorts dotted along the 16-mile long island, a low key vacation spot with less than 20 hotels on the island, 6-star high-end sophisticated cuisine, an eclectic blend of beach bars and bistros, and the land of the $20 K a night villas. Anguilla is the friendliest small town in the world, lounge on the lovely shores of Shoal Bay or Little Bay and soak up the sand, sea, and neverending sunshine! Go swimming, snorkeling, and kayaking to protected marine parks and see some of the most exotic birdlife. Dine on delicious pea soup a local favorite, or lobster crepes while absorbing some of the most spectacular scenery in the world. .
Anguilla Island is a Caribbean gem, small in size, but don`t let its size fool you. It is alluring and unassuming with stunning beaches mixed with an authentic island vibe (there are no high rise hotels, casinos, cruise ships or even shopping malls on the island). Serenity seekers come here to relax, browse the art galleries and museums, eat the delicious cuisine, swim in the turquoise waters, and snorkel or dive the fish-filled reefs and wrecks.
The daily average temperatures in Anguilla are a warm yet comfortable 80 and the best time to visit is between May and August when good prices and availability are on offer. June through November is hurricane season, and many properties close down during the summer months of September and October. Mid-December the middle of January is the Holiday or Festive season in Anguilla which can be a busy time with high prices at resorts and hotels, and need to be booked months in advance. The sailboat racing season is May to August when the island’s national pastime when crafts compete offshore, and post-race parties follow.
We recommend 7-10 days based on what you want to see and do. We offer flexible vacation packages so you can select your number of nights in each city, desired hotel, and activities. We suggest a minimum of 3 nights in larger cities.
Anguilla does not have any public transportation options, so renting a car is your best way to get around the island. The roads on the island are not the best, some are unpaved and there aren’t any road signs. There are rental car companies at the Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport. The one main road on the island connects one end to the other with smaller roads branching off from that, the entire drive takes 30 minutes.
The official currency in Anguilla is the Eastern Caribbean Dollar (EC$) which is fixed to the US dollar at US$1=EC$2.68. The US dollar is widely accepted, the change will be given in EC. There are ATMs found at airports, and banks throughout the main cities and towns.
The official language spoken in Anguilla is Anguillan Creole. Many people speak English especially in the service industry at hotels and restaurants. Most of the island's inhabitants have a good comprehension of the English language. We recommend you get a good English-Creole guidebook and learn common phrases such as hello, goodbye, please, thank you, and numbers 1-10.
