The Belizean currency is the Belize Dollar, and is typically valued at two to every one US Dollar. The US Dollar is also accepted nearly everywhere throughout Belize.
Credit cards are widely accepted in restaurants, hotels, stores, and ATMs which can be found in most destinations, and although travelers check are also a safe way to carry money. |
Always advise your bank and credit card issuers, before traveling abroad. |

Belize is in the UTC/GMT -6 hour zone, which means that it is Central Standard Time, or one hour earlier than New York. Costa Rica does not observe Daylight Savings Time, so during DST ( Typically March - November in the US ), Costa Rica will be 2 hours earlier than New York or Mountain Standard Time. Electricity: |
Belize uses 110 volt, 60 cycle electricity, same as the US. Plugs are typically the 2 pronged flat type so US travelers will not typically need a converter or adaptor. |
