Panama Useful Information
Currency:
The US Dollar, and the Panamanian Balboa are both legal currency throughout Panama. The Balboa is tied to the Dollar at a rate of 1:1, and is subdivided into 100 centésimos.
Credit cards are widely accepted in Panama City, and other mid size cities, in restaurants, hotels, and many stores. Always advise your credit card issuers when you intend to use your cards abroad.
Traveler's checks are always a safe way to carry money when traveling internationally, but make sure to bring a reasonable amount of cash. ATMs are available at most banks, but they may not accept all cards.
Electricity:
120 V / 60 Hz:
Outlets are often a combination of Type A, and Type B and can accept either plug.
Entry/ Departure
Health:
No specific immunizations are required for entry to Panama, but Yellow Fever and other vaccinations are frequently recommended when traveling to or from certain countries, so always consult your physician or health practitioner about recommended procedures or immunizations, before traveling to foreign countries.
