Day 1 in Malolo Island
Welcome to Malolo Island! Upon arrival at the airport, you will go through customs and immigration. Should you opt to purchase a transfer to your hotel; a representative will be waiting for you as you exit immigration. Arrive at your hotel, check-in and do not give in to jet lag! There is so much for you to see and do!
We recommend you get acquainted with the island and take a walk around Yaro, the main village where you will find cafes, restaurants, bars, and shops. Stop in to eat and enjoy a drink with views of the breathtaking beaches and stunning turquoise waters, while soaking in the laid back island atmosphere. Visit some of the local shops to pick up necessities and souvenirs to take home.
Wander around the village after lunch and see the beachy architecture of the buildings on the island including the Fijian Methodist Church in the Yaro village. The country of Fiji is a multi-religious country, you can learn about the rich culture and history of the island and mingle with the friendly locals.
Make your way to your resort for the afternoon and take some time to unwind and relax in the pool or lagoons. Alternatively, head to the beach and soak up the sun on the soft white sands and cool off in the sparkling blue waters. The resorts and beaches here have an abundance of amenities and activities to enjoy including spa`s, swim-up bars, hot tubs, private pools, swimming, snorkeling, and kayaking.
Take a walk through the mangroves and down to the beach before sunset and find the perfect spot to sit back and soak up the setting sun sinking over the beautiful Pacific Ocean. Fijians believe that Malolo was an island that was especially created by the gods where the sun comes to rest after each day of wandering. Every person in Fiji knows that the sun will always come to the island of Malolo to rest at the end of each day, `na siga e dromui Malolo` meaning `Malolo is where the sun comes to rest`.
After sunset, enjoy dinner at one of the beachfront restaurants and dine on delicious freshly caught fish and seafood, sip on tropical cocktails and adjust to the unhurried way of life referred to as `Fiji` time.
Day 2 in Malolo Island
Today rise and shine extra early to capture a sunrise. Watching the sunrise on the spectacular island is a serene, idyllic time filled with stillness in the water and vibrant colors in the morning Fijian sky. After a breathtaking sunrise, enjoy a walk on the beach followed by a refreshing swim, then head out to get some breakfast.
Set out on the waters for an adventurous sailing trip. Several companies offer day trips onboard different boats, Seaspray Day Sailing takes you onboard a luxurious 83-foot long sailing schooner for an unforgettable sailing trip. The full-day sailing adventure provides passengers a great way to see the beautiful islands and explore the beauty of the waters, beaches and more. A full day itinerary will normally include a visit to a Fijian village, swimming in the crystal clear waters and lagoons and a visit to `Modriki Island` where the movie `Cast Away` featuring Tom Hanks was filmed. Cruises depart daily from the Mana Island marina and include food, drinks and a Kava ceremony on Yanuya Island.
Spend your day exploring uninhabited islands, lounging on secluded beaches with breathtaking backdrops, swimming, and snorkeling in the warm bluest of blue waters, or trying out all the fun water sports including diving and discovering famous dive sites, kayaking, windsurfing, and semi-submersible coral viewing.
After a fun-filled day on the water enjoy a cocktail while you watch another spectacular sunset, then experience a delicious traditional `Lovo` meal. The meat (chicken, fish or pork) is cooked in the earth, like an underground barbeque and wrapped tightly in a banana leave weave then placed in the `lovo` which is lined by hot rocks.
Day 3 in Malolo Island
Start your day with an awakening yoga session! Yoga can be found around the island at indoor studios, on the beaches, and at your accommodations.
Today head out on a quick boat ride to Cloud 9, a multi-level floating platform located just off the coast of the Island. Cloud 9 is situated on the translucent blue waters of Ro-Ro Reef, a floating day club and a popular day trip destination featuring a bar, wood fire pizza`s, sundecks, sunbeds, and a live DJ booth. Visitors can soak up the sun on the decks, enjoy tropical cocktails at the bar, dine on delicious pizza and swim and snorkel in the stunning surrounding waters. Cloud 9 welcomes international Djs here regularly.
Head over to Treasure Island, a beautiful tropical island set on a coral cay 11 miles offshore from Nadi. The island is surrounded by a Marine Reserve and is home to a Turtle Rehabilitation Center where turtles and their habitats are preserved, conserved and protected. Treasure Island is the only island in the Mamanuca chain to feature a center like this with employees that are dedicated and qualified to rehabilitate and breed turtles.
After a fun-filled morning, spend the afternoon in a Fijian Spa. There is an abundance of spa`s offered on the island, many can be found at resorts set amidst tranquil settings. Choose from a variety of rejuvenating treatments performed by qualified therapists, many feature medicinal and therapeutic benefits using natural local ingredients.
Spend some time soaking up the Fijian sun and fantastic waters. Resorts and hotels on the Island offer sparkling pools, many are infinity pools with breathtaking views of the beaches and ocean. Relax around the pool, enjoy some alfresco dining and sip on a cocktail.
Tonight enjoy a traditional `Kava Drinking Night`, drinking Kava is a big part of the Fijian culture. Resorts offer their own Kava ceremonies where staff will give informative speeches on the history, flavor and the meaning of the drink in a traditional ceremony. You will be able to enjoy bowls of Kava and learn the origins of Kava, the plant and the importance of the ceremony itself.
Day 4 in Malolo Island
Today head out on an island hopping tour, several remote islands make up the Mamanuca Islands chain. Just a few of the surrounding islands include; Treasure Island, Beachcomber Island, Bounty Island, South Sea Island, and Castaway Island, many of them feature their private resorts that welcome visitors.
Being out on the spectacular waters first thing in the morning is one of the best times of day when the winds pick up and sailing is a dream. Cruises pass by the popular Castaway Island, Mana Island, Matamanoa Island and MonuRiki where swimming, snorkeling, hiking and lounging on beautiful beaches are part of the local pastime.
Head out and do some scuba diving, the Mamanuca Islands boast some of the most amazing dive sites in the world all found in the stunning turquoise waters with astounding visibility. The color of the waters here are unbelievably and are brimming with vibrant corals, tropical fish, and other marine life. Some of the best dive sites including Bird Rock, Fish Market, Sherwood Forest, Gotham City, Big Ws, and Salamanda.
On your last evening on the Island be sure to capture your last awe-inspiring sunset and bask in the glorious warmth of one of the beautiful beaches. Stroll along the soft sands and dip your feet in the sparkling waters, then drop into a beachfront restaurant and enjoy a delicious dinner with breathtaking views.
Partake in a traditional Fijian `meke` show with dancing and storytelling performed by an amazing group of talented locals. The show provides a great opportunity to get involved with the locals and learn the Fijian culture and join in on the dancing.
Additional Days in Malolo Island
If you are to spend additional days in Malolo Island make your way to Yasawa Island, a simply stunning remote region in Fiji. The remote islands consist of a chain of 20 ancient volcanic islands, four of them feature dramatic monoliths surrounded by clear lagoons. Your Last Day in Malolo Island
Depart from your hotel to the airport for your return flight home. We recommend that you purchase a private transfer to the airport if so the representative will meet you at your hotel with plenty of time to get you to the airport for your flight out.
