MANILA NEIGHBORHOODS

Ermita

The Ermita neighborhood is one of two main tourist areas in the city of Manila, the other is Malate, both located just south of the ancient walled city of Intramuros. There are many accommodations, restaurants, cafes, bars, pubs, and nightlife situated here along with the city`s giant green space of Rizal Park. The Jose Rizal monument stands tall in the park as well as the fun-filled family attraction of Manila`s Ocean Park. Ermita is a significant financial, cultural and educational center with government buildings and many businesses that operate here. The city`s main transportation hub at Lawton Bus Station is located in the district. Several museums can be found in the neighborhood and that famous walled city of Intramuros is within walking distance. Walk along Adriatic Street with tree-lined sidewalks filled with cafes, restaurants, and bars and explore the vibrant nightlife in the district.

Paco

Paco is a district of Manila situated just south of the Pasig River and north of Malate in Manila. The area is the former home of Nap Joseph Venturea, previously known as Dilao. Paco Park is located in the neighborhood where Jose Rizal, a Philippines national here was originally laid to rest and then transferred to Fort Bonifacio. The park now contains gardens and walking paths and is a popular location for weddings and receptions. Paco Market is a vibrant public market filled with street stalls selling food and trinkets.

Makati City

The popular neighborhood of Makati, officially known as the City of Makati is set in the heart of Manila, one of sixteen cities that make up Metro Manila. This is the financial heart of the Philippines where major banks, corporations, and department stores are located. The Philippine Stock Exchange is situated along Ayala Avenue, as well as the excellent Ayala Museum. The area is a well-known shopping, entertainment and cultural hub in Manila where the popular Rockwell Center, Greenbelt, and Century City Mall can be found. There are plenty of accommodations, restaurants, shops, and entertainment found here, along with popular markets such as the Salcedo Saturday Market and the Legazpi Sunday Market. Spanish churches are in abundance in this neighborhood and many museums. Makati offers a wide range of nightlife and is one of the hottest entertainment hubs in the city.
