Day 1 in Moorea

Welcome to Moorea! Upon arrival at the airport, you will go through customs and immigration. Should you opt to purchase a transfer to your hotel; a representative will be waiting for you as you exit immigration. Arrive at your hotel, check-in and do not give in to jet lag! There is so much for you to see and do!

We recommend you get acquainted with the island and take a walk around the main towns such as Opunohu Bay on the northwest coast, Piha`ena on the east, and Cook`s Bayon the northeastern tip. The island is around 10 miles in width from the east to west so it is easy to see both coasts in a short amount of time. These beach towns offer visitors an array of dining opportunities, shopping, and some sights to check out, have some lunch, and get your bearings of the beautiful island.

Take a journey around the peaceful and scenic circle island road dotted with pineapple fields, fruit tasting stops, beautiful secluded beaches, and unique shopping opportunities. The dramatic landscapes of Moorea are filled with verdant valleys that encircle the jagged Magic Mountain covered in lush foliage and the stunning tranquility of the turquoise lagoons.

Check out the quiet warm waters of the lagoon which offer a variety of fun activities including swimming, snorkeling, paddle boarding, canoeing, water skiing, and even surfing. The island is a haven for divers with an abundance of tropical fish, and other marine life swimming around the vibrant coral reefs. Some underwater sights include stingrays, sharks, and marine turtles. The Moorea Dolphin Center is another great place to visit where you can get up close and personal with these wonderful marine mammals and even swim with them!

The luxurious lagoon is great for many exciting excursions such as snorkeling trips and ray feeding, jet ski rides, and trips out to remote Motus for picnics on the pristine beaches. Whales can be seen in the area from August through October, which is mating season, and a whale watching tour is highly recommended if you visit during this time.

Take a bike ride around the scenic island road and discover the quaint villages dotted around the coastline, stopping into one of the authentic restaurants or roulettes (food trucks) for some tasty local eats! Sip on a tropical cocktail on one of the laid back beachside bars and soak up the stunning surroundings of this beautiful piece of paradise.

In the afternoon take a ride to Belvedere Lookout, set in the heart of Moorea, a stunning scenic viewpoint overlooking Cook`s Bay, Opunohu Bay, Mount Rotui, and the fertile Opunohu Valley decorated with pineapple plants, jagged peaks, and verdant slopes. This is a fantastic spot to capture a breathtaking sunset on the island of Moorea. Witness the sky and landscapes illuminated by a vibrant rainbow of reds, pinks, purples, oranges, and yellows. You can grab a snack and a beverage from the souvenir stand at the top.

Head down to the beach after sunset for a delicious dinner by the oceanfront. There is an abundance of options to choose from; many menus will offer delicious fresh fish and seafood and views of the beach and water with a laid back atmosphere. Stroll along the sands after dinner and bask under the sparkling starry night.

Day 2 in Moorea

Wake up today and enjoy a walk along the beach then a delicious breakfast with a view. Then head out on an adventure to the mighty Magic Mountain, you can reach the top via a refreshing hike with awe-inspiring views from the top. There are also enthralling ATV tours to the top through the rugged wilderness and the verdant slopes and landscapes. Magical Mountain is one the highest points on the island of Moorea located along the exterior part of the island with 360-degree views over the spectacular Opunohu Bay and Cook`s Bay.

There is a great network of hiking and biking trails on Moorea with signposts and markers installed making them easy to explore by yourself. Check out the map of the trails on the road to Belvedere Lookout. There are so many unique geographical landscapes covering the island and so many possibilities to explore them and enjoy outdoor activities and adventures. Try zip-lining through the lush verdant jungle interior of the island for a thrilling ride or check out an aerial obstacle course for a little more exhilaration at TikiParc.

You can choose a horseback riding excursion which is a wonderful way to explore the stunning verdant interior of the island with a guide where you can pick fresh fruits and pineapples to eat.

Spend the afternoon lazing on the beach on the beautiful white sands with the swaying palm trees blowing in the breeze and the sounds of the tropical turquoise waters lapping on the shore. The Moorea beaches are some of the most stunning in the world and there are plenty to choose from including both private ones like the Sofitel Beach, or the public beach at Temae. Some resorts offer day passes and allow access to their facilities such as the beach and pool, you can get lunch included

Diving and snorkeling are some of the biggest attractions with several tour operators found all over the island. Some of the biggest underwater attractions are lemon sharks, turtles, stingrays, blacktip sharks, and of course the vibrant coral reefs.

Do some shopping and pick up some unique authentic souvenirs at Moorea Store where many local items can be found such as Tahitian Black Pearls which can be purchased in the form of several different types of jewelry.

Head to the Tiki Village in Moorea for an authentic evening of traditional dancing, music, and a delicious Tahitian buffet. Take a tour of the replica Tahitian village, learn about the local Polynesian way of life, dine on delicious food, and enjoy drinks then sit back and enjoy the show.

Day 3 in Moorea

Start your day with a stroll along the soft white sands and a swim in the refreshing ocean or lagoon. Enjoy breakfast on your balcony with views of the stunning surroundings and relax a little before heading out for the day

Today, visit the Lycee Agricole, in Moorea, French Polynesia`s only agricultural school where visitors can see pineapples, lemons, grapefruits, bananas, and vanilla beans growling and learn about the cultivation process. Sip on fresh fruit juices and taste delicious homemade jams and ice cream and wander around the educational trails through the plantation where you can see and learn about tropical plants, flowers, and fruits native to French Polynesia.

Head to the Rotui juice factory and distillery where the Manutea brand of exotic fruit juices are produced along with delicious jams and sugar cane alcohol. Take a tour and fill up on goodies at the gift shop on-site, try some free samples.

Drive to Cook`s Bay, one of the main tourist towns on the island of Moorea, set amongst the rugged mountainous landscape and the beautiful coastline offering some pretty magnificent views. Explore the main streets in Cook`s Bay and check out the restaurants, cafes, shops, and other attractions here such as the aquarium and the Black Pearl Farm. There are art galleries here and the Pao Pao Market, stop for some lunch or put together a picnic and head to the beach.

Mareto Beach, just past Opunohu Bay, one of the popular public beaches on the island where the locals love to hang out. There is a grassy lawn where you can relax and spend some time in the shade under the swaying palm trees. Take a walk along the beach and lap up the warm waters where swimming and snorkeling can be enjoyed.

Enjoy your last stunning South Pacific sunset from the sand or sea, you can find many laid back beachfront bars and restaurants offering unparalleled views of the vibrant sunset or take a sunset sailing cruise. Moorea Beach Café is a favorite on the island where you can sip on delicious cocktails and enjoy the views.

For dinner check out one of the many local restaurants found dotted around the island, many located right on the beaches. Menu items include fresh mahi-mahi, Poisson cru, steaks, seafood, salads, sandwiches, and burgers. Many of the restaurants offer free transfers from your hotel.

Spend your last evening soaking up the island vibes at one of the local bars or beachfront locations with live entertainment including traditional music and dance.

Your Last Day in Moorea

Depart from your hotel to the airport for your return flight home. We recommend that you purchase a private transfer to the airport if so the representative will meet you at your hotel with plenty of time to get you to the airport for your flight out.
