GETTING AROUND - NASSAU

By Foot

It is possible to walk around the downtown Nassau area connecting to different shops and attractions. Distances from the beaches and areas of interest are within walking distance.

By Bus/Jitney

Public buses in the Bahamas are called jitneys, these are the most common form of public transportation. Buses travel around Nassau city and New Providence Island, along the main stretch of Bay Street. The #10 Jitney travels to Cable Beach, picking up passengers at George and Bay Streets, across from the British Colonial Hilton, others can be found on Charlotte and Bay Streets. A ride costs around $1.25, and operates between the hours are 6:30 am until 6 pm daily excluding Sundays, when only a limited service is operable.

By Boat

There are ferry services offered for visiting the island including Bahamas Ferries, taking guests out on day trips from Nassau to places including Bimini, and Abaco. The port of Nassau is the main port of call for many cruise ships plying to the Bahamas, where several cruise ships can dock at the Prince George Wharf Cruise Terminal which is situated adjacent to downtown Nassau.

By Taxi

There is no issue finding a taxi in downtown Nassau including Romeo`s Executive Limousine and Taxi Services. Taxi drivers are knowledgeable and kind, taxis are metered and cost around $4 per person from Paradise Island to Downtown Nassau, a short trip can cost between $15-$20.

Kroozzy is a rideshare app offered in Nassau, allowing passengers to book a ride on-demand from their cell (similar to Uber). A safe and reliable service with options for women only drivers.
