How do I get from the airport to my hotel?

The main airport servicing the city of Nha Trang is the Cam Ranh International Airport located 18 miles away from the city center. If you have not booked a private transfer with us, you have a few options for getting from the airport to your hotel, including taxis, buses and rental cars.

What types of transportation can I find at the airport?

A taxi from the Cam Ranh International Airport to the city center takes around 45 minutes and will cost around VND400,000, which is a fixed rate. Some of the most reputable companies in Nha Trang are Mai Linh and Nha Trang Taxi. Taxis are located outside of the terminals.

You can also opt to take an xe om ride (motorcycle taxi) if you are a single passenger traveling with light luggage.

The Cam Ranh – Nah Trang airport shuttle buses are a cheap way to travel into the city costing approximately VND60,000, tickets can be purchased at the bus counter inside the arrivals hall. Buses operate from 5:00 am until 10:00 pm and the journey takes around an hour.

How do I get from the bus/train station to my hotel?

The main bus station in Nha Trang is the Phia Nam Nha Trang Bus Station located in the center of the city not far from the Nha Trang Train Station. The bus station is the main intercity bus terminal offering frequent daily buses. There are taxis and xe om`s available outside of the stations to connect you to your final destination.

How do I get around the city using public transportation?

Getting around Nha Trang by public transportation is made easy with buses, taxis, motorcycle taxis (xe oms), cyclos and trains.

Taxis are reliable in the city with English speaking drivers and air conditioning. Taxis are metered and some of the city`s reputable companies include Mai Linh Taxi tel. 058-3-811-811 and Nha Trang Taxi tel. 058-3-81-81-81. The flag fall rates per 0.62 miles are around VND7,000. The best way to find a taxi in the city is to order one by phone or find one outside of a hotel.

Xe oms (motorcycle taxis) are common all over Nha Trang and provide passengers a quick and fun way to get around. Taking a ride on a motorcycle can get you to where you want to be and offer a scenic ride for around VND15,000 per 0.62 miles and a quick ride around the city center should not cost much more than VND25,000

Cyclos are three-wheeled bicycles with a seat attached and can be found around most tourist attractions in the city. A classic, fun ride on a cyclo can fit two passengers and costs around VND22,000 per 0.62 miles.

Buses in the city are cheap and reliable and a journey will cost you around VND7,000. There are six routes offered in the city and the buses are blue and white in color, the most useful routes for tourists are bus #4 and #6. Bus #4 will take visitors on a north-south route traveling through the center of the city and connect many tourist attractions such as Cho Dam market, Po Nagar Cham Towers, Chong Rocks, and Vinpearl.

Is Nha Trang a walking city?

Yes, you can absolutely walk around the company and flat city of Nha Trang on foot. Walking around is one of the best ways to get to the beach and other popular attractions like shopping, restaurants and tourist attractions. Nha Trang is a coastal city and the beautiful beaches are within walking distance of the heart of the city. There is a great promenade along the beach which is perfect for a stroll. The city is pedestrian friendly making it easy to reach many attractions on foot.

Can I ride a bike in Nha Trang?

Riding a bike in Nha Trang is easy, providing visitors a great way to explore the city, which is flat and provides easy access to many attractions. There are so many scenic rides in this beautiful beachfront city that you will be spoiled for choices. Take a ride along the promenade at the beach, or head north along Tran Phu Street to the bridge and beyond, cycle along the river and enjoy the stunning sights the city has to offer.

Bikes can be rented all over the city, many hotels will offer bikes to rent for the day to their guests and rentals generally cost around VND20,000 per day. There are rental shops in the city center along with moped and motorcycle rentals.

There are many bicycle tours offered where you can get out and explore the verdant countryside of Nha Trang. The coastal town of Nha Trang stretches for around 4 miles where many of the attractions are grouped close together, which makes cycling to them very easy.

Where can I go scuba diving?

Due to Nha Trang`s coastal location, the city is the perfect launching pad to many diving spots. The Hon Mun Marine Protected Area offers expansive reefs and there are around 25 dive sites in the area. Scuba diving, snorkeling, and other water sports are very popular activities. There are many dive companies and shops found in the area and visitors can also get there PADI certification. Moray Beach is one of the most popular dive locations at the marine park, where 60 feet deep waters filled with vibrant coral reefs and marine life. Whale Island is another great dive location, situated 50 miles north of the city where many interest species live.

The best months to dive are from February through September with very favorable conditions and great visibility. October to December is the worst time. The basic cost of a scuba diving trip in Nha Trang will run around VND1,250,000 and will normally include equipment, lunch, transfers, park entrance fee.

Is Nha Trang a dangerous city, is there anything I should be aware of?

The city of Nha Trang is a safe city to visit. However, just like any other major destination in the world, there are certain precautions you should practice when visiting. Practice common sense when out and about exploring the sights and keep your wits about you, pickpockets are common in crowded areas, especially in markets and on public transportation. Keep your valuables secure at all times, avoid wearing expensive jewelry or looking flashy, don`t carry around large amounts of money. Stick to well populated and well-lit areas late at night and try not to wander around alone when it is dark.

What are some popular areas for shopping?

Shopping is a great thing to do in Nha Trang where visitors can shop at local markets for all kinds of items or cool off in the shopping malls. Some of the most popular markets found in the city include Dam Market (or Cho Dam) which is the largest market in Nha Trang selling everything from clothes to street food. Xom Moi Market is another popular location selling fresh produce, handicrafts, and souvenirs as well as a wide array of delicious local food. A night market is also offered at Xom Moi which can be a fun, authentic and colorful experience. Visit beautiful beachside boutiques set along the waterfront promenade with authentic artwork, handicrafts, and souvenirs made from seashells and wood. Be sure to practice your bargaining skills as most items can be discounted up to 60% off or more haggle hard in the markets in the city and never pay full price.

What is the currency in Nha Trang, can I pay in US Dollars?

The units of currency in Nha Trang are the Vietnamese Dong (VND). US dollars are accepted but it is always better to pay in VND. Where can I visit a mud bath?

Visiting a mud bath in Nha Trang is an odd yet neat experience to try. Thap Ba Hot Springs is a popular mud bath center offering communal and private baths, spa treatments, pools, and hydrotherapy. The mineral-rich mud found in Nha Trang is said to provide many great healing properties and health benefits. Soak away those aches and pains from a busy day of sightseeing and take a dip in warm natural mineral water pools.

What is the food like?

In Nha Trang visitors can be sure to enjoy some of the best quality seafood which is caught fresh. Nha Trang offers many seafood restaurants along the beach which is prepared in a number of different ways, steamed, fried, seared or barbecued. Enjoy locally caught delicacies such as giant prawns, crabs, shellfish, squid and more at many of the restaurants around town that are supplied by the local fishing village.

There are also international dishes offered in Nha Trang where you can try Greek, Indian, French cuisine and more. Many of these restaurants can be found along Tran Phu Beach around the bridge area with waterfront dining.

Street food is also popular in Nha Trang and is found in many of the popular street markets. Make sure to come hungry to these markets as you can sample many different kinds of local street food and visit the many food markets.

What is the nightlife like?

Nha Trang offers its visitors a happening party scene; it is quite the party town and comes alive at night with many beachfront bars, rooftop lounges, floating island bars, live music and the famous full moon parties. There are several nightly entertainment options that can be enjoyed in Nha Trang, puppet shows, light shows, night markets, the Nha Trang River Cai Boat ride and the vast array of entertainment offered at the Vinpearl Amusement Park.

The Full Moon Parties are one of Nha Trang`s signatures on the nightlife scene, the Sailing Club (Tran Phu Blvd) on the waterfront offers a music-filled full moon party that goes on until the wee hours.

Vinpearl is full of fun and activities including an amphitheater, a water park, an aquarium, a mall and a number of rides, restaurants, and shops for a fun filled day and night out.

The Louisiane Brewhouse is another one of the cities favorites; this beachfront bar is a great place to grab a bite to eat and a local craft beer while enjoying the sunset.

Havana Hotel offers a rooftop bar on the 43rd floor with epic views over Nha Trang, another great location to capture the sunset and a swimming pool.

What islands can I visit?

Island hopping in Nha Trang is an amazing way to spend a day out on the beautiful relaxing waters. There are 19 tropical islands sprinkled just offshore from the coast and daytime trips can take you to five of the different islands for an idyllic island getaway. Nha Trang`s island hopping is an amazing experience filled with live entertainment, water sports activities, food, drinks and fun for around VND200,000 and upward per day. Some of the tropical islands include Mot Island, Mun Island, Mieu Island and Tam Island where swimming and snorkeling in the clear blue coral-filled waters and lounging on the deserted beach are all part of the experience.

I don`t speak Vietnamese will there be many people who speak English?

The official language spoken in Nha Trang is Vietnamese. Most Vietnamese speak enough English for tourists` needs, and it is common for hotels, restaurants, and shops that are aimed at tourists to use the English Language. We suggest you get a good English-Vietnamese guidebook and familiarize yourself with common phrases such as hello, goodbye, please, thank you and numbers 1-10.
