These wineries in the Texas Hill Country are spectacular and fun, there are over 50 unique and visually stunning wineries scatted through the Hill Country from Austin to Fredericksburg, Lampasas, and New Braunfels.

Things to See and Do

Visit the famous Alamo in San Antonio, the most well-known site of the famous Battle of the Alamo during the Texas Revolution, a very interesting place to visit. It is one of five missions that were built around San Antonio in the 1700s, together they make up a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Explore downtown Fredericksburg, a charming small town located in the Texas Hill Country with European architecture and historical landmarks. One of the top attractions is the National Museum of the Pacific War. The museum exhibits airplanes and other military weapons used in the Pacific region during World War II. Fredericksburg Main Stree offers tasting rooms, German restaurants, art galleries, and cafes. In December the Town Square is home to a gigantic decorated wooden pyramid, making the town of the best places to spend Christmas in Texas.

Jacob’s Well is one of the most beloved swimming holes in all of Texas, an artesian spring located in the second-largest submerged cave in Texas. It is 140 feet deep and quite mesmerizing, the waters are chilly but it's a great way to cool off in the Texas heat. May through September reservations are required for swimming. You can jump in the well from the cliffs above.

Natural Bridge Caverns is a premier natural attraction located in the Texas Hill Country. Fascination limestone caves and caverns can be toured and are easily accessible and truly magnificent. This site is one of the coolest caves to visit in Texas and a popular attraction, visitors come from near and far to visit these magnificent natural wonders. The cavers were discovered just before the turn of the 20th century and opened to the public in 1977. The cavern tours descend more than 34 stories deep within the earth to reveal one of the greatest underground displays on the East Coast.

Enchanted Rock State Natural Area is made of pink granite, the bald dome stands 425 feet tall and is a fascinating sight to see. Climbing to the top of the rock takes about an hour, it's a strenuous hike, and several other interesting hikes in the area. This is one of the most popular hiking and camping sites in Texas, and its name comes from the magical powers Native American tribes ascribed to the massive pink granite batholith.

Visit Lost Mapes State Natural Area, which lies on the beautiful Sabinal River located in the town of Vanderpool, an excellent year-round destination for hiking in the Texas Hill Country. It is best known for its stunning fall foliage, catching the fall colors here from late October-November every year.

Canyon Lake is a beautiful romantic destination in Texas Hill country. Visitors can rent a boat for the day and head out on the sparkling turquoise waters, go fishing, kayaking, water sports, or find a lost town while scuba diving. Canyon Lake is a little slice of heaven located near New Braunfels, known for its spectacular scenery. Canyon Lake Dam is a great place for a scenic stroll and hiking the trails at Overlook Park to enjoy spectacular views.

Ron Yates Winery

The Ron Yates is a winery situated in the heart of Texas, on the Johnson City to Fredericksburg corridor. A family-owned and operated winery, Ron Yates is the sister winery to Spicewood Vineyards, which has been producing distinguished Texas Hill Country Wines since 1992. The winery is run by a seasoned team of winemaking experts, who use state-of-the-art equipment to make delicious Spanish, Italian, and Rhone-style wines with estate-grown and sourced grapes. The tasting room here offers over 20 wines to taste by the glass or on flights, offering everything from grenache rose to single-vineyard Sangiovese. The room is bright and spacious featuring beautiful bay windows that open to the expansive outside patio. The contemporary winery measures 6,000 square feet and includes a 20,000-case production facility, and an adjacent 1,800-square-foot covered crush pad. Todd Crowell is the winemaker at Ron Yates who designed the winery, for seven generations the Yates family has worked the land in Texas. Ron Yates has a long-held relationship with top grape growers to source excellent fruit for its wines that include grapes such as Albarino, Grenache, Malbec, Sangiovese, Sauvignon Blanc, Touriga Nacional, and Viognier from top Texas vineyards.

Kuhlman Cellars

Kuhlman Cellars is located in the heart of the famous Hwy 290 wine trail between Fredericksburg, and Johnson City. Kuhlman Creek pays homage to this unique terrain, the namesake comes from Kuhlman Creek which traverses the Cobb Family Farm and Estate Vineyard found NE of Fredericksburg. John Kuhlman Cellars takes visitors on a personal wine journey with a knowledgeable guide, intimate views of the working winery, and Chef prepared cuisine paired with each wine. The region's viticultural importance unifies the climate and vines, to produce handcrafted wines of unparalleled character and complexity. There are over 20 wines available to taste by the glass or on flights, offering everything from grenache rose to single vineyard Sangiovese. The establishment offers a spacious tasting room with beautiful bay windows that open up to the spacious outdoor patio area, they offer a small selection of snacks like jerky, cheese, and chips from the bistro. Try to 2016 Barranca which earned a Gold medal from the Concours International de Lyon wine competition in Lyon, France. Chris and Jennifer Cobb began their wine journey and opened Kuhlman Cellars in 2014, they manage the small estate vineyard just north of the winery property in the Texas Hill Country before the completion of the winery. Benedicte Rhyne is the winemaker and Texas wine pioneer who joined the team in 2012 as their winemaker and partner.

Lewis Wines

Lewis Wines is located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, near Johnson City. Lewis Wines was established in 2010 to produce world-class wines using only Texas Grapes, they produce great wines in their vineyard. The estate uses grapes from vines planted in 2014 and has a loyal following for its multiple Texas roses and delightful, slightly fizzy white swim Spot. They feature an outdoor tasting room in a spacious area for large groups, the winery also hosts fun weekend events like paella and flamenco performances or rose and poke. The outdoor patio is a cozy setting with comfy seats, and twinkling lights, there are cornhole boards surrounded by towering trees on the lawn, and occasionally there are food trucks, and live music on the property. The owners Randy and Debbie Lewis originally established a small family winery in Napa Valley in 1992, then later joined by their son Dennis in 1990. They are hands-on in every aspect of vineyard management, winemaking, sales, and distribution, they thrive on this challenge and the relationships they cultivate in the process. Their ultimate goal is to create world-class wines, the total annual production is approximately 9,000 cases of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc.

Flat Creek Estate Winery and Vineyard

Flat Creek Estate Winery and Vineyard is a premier 80-acre winery located in marble Falls, in the Texas Hill Country where quality Texas wines are produced. Flat Creek Estate has earned over 400 awards and accolades from around the world for its fantastic, award-winning wine, restaurant, and 18-hole disc golf course. There is a mini-tasting tour coupled with a three-course meal paired with wine at the restaurant on site named the Bistro. Flat Creek is custom designed for a one-of-a-kind experience, taste wine in the Tuscan-inspired tasting room, dine in the full-service restaurant, walk the trails or play disc golf and enjoy a unique and exciting experience. There are special monthly events such as black glass tastings, blending seminars, and wine history lessons are popular. Along with annual events like the Crawfish Boil, Thanksgiving Shopping Sprees, or Cigar rolling events. The Flat Creek organization includes Flat Creek Enoteca, a wine bar in nearby Marble Falls. The Estate has multiple Double Gold Medals at the San Francisco International Wine Competition. They have earned the distinction of being one of Food and Wine’s top 50 Most Amazing Wine Experiences in America, and Conde Nast Travelers included the estate on their list of 4 Best Day Trips from Austin.

AB Astris Winery

AB Astris Winery is a small family-owned 12-acre vineyard located in Stonewall that is dedicated to making the best wines produced with Texas fruit. The vines were planted in May 2018 and May 2019 and consist of four acres of Tannat, two acres of Souzao, two acres of Clairette Blanche, two acres of Petite Sirah, and two acres of Montepulciano. The winery has been producing handcrafted vintage wines in the heart of the Texas Hill Country since 2018 and produces a variety of grapes that are lesser known to U.S. vintners like Tannat, Souza, and Clairette Blanche. The light and airy tasting room is modern, in a contemporary structure that overlooks the small estate and offers delicious food and wine, in an intimate setting. Enjoy an enlightening new food and wine experience at Ab Astris Winery on the grounds. The restaurant offers a long farm table situated next to a private prep kitchen area, an engaging experience with chef and sommelier Mitchell Sharrock. Each dish is perfectly wine-paired with seasonally prepared plates designed with precision, with a five-course meal, individually plated and served per seating, using the sommelier-inspired wines of Ab Astris wines.

Adega Vinho Winery

Adega Vinho Winery is a winery, vineyard, and estate in Stonewall in the Texas Wine Country. The Bilger Family is a focused family winery producing a selection of Old World Style award-winning wines. The winery is a collaboration of ideas, dreams, visions, and the different personalities of the Bilger Family. Their mission is to provide guests with much more than a glass and a taste of the wine. They allow the grapes to shape their wines to produce a manageable assortment of great Texas wines to craft a dozen or so great wines from blends to single-variety estate wines. The Bilgers broke ground on the vineyard in southeast Gillespie County during the summer of 2016. They prepared the land for planting the vines in the spring of 2017, they worked for 7 years together to ready the land. Mourvedre, Tempranillo, Touriga Nacional, Sangiovese, and Arinto were the first vines to be planted, and these grape varieties were chosen due to their growth characteristics and the location in the Texas Hill Country. The Bilger Family is focused on becoming a self-sustaining vineyards, they plan to reach their goal of 50-plus acres under wine within 10 years.

Pedernales Tasting Room

Pedernales Tasting Room is nestled in Stonewall, in the heart of Texas Hill County and the epicenter of the Texas wine industry situated on 145 acres of oak-shaded land featuring unparalleled views of the stunning Pedernales River Valley. There is an exclusive tasting experience conducted by knowledgeable and dedicated servers that offer a personalized tour of the wine production facility. The tastings include limited edition wines as well as a tank or barrel sample offered on Fridays and Sundays (reservations are required). Pedernales Cellars is one of Texas’s leading producers of authentic, handcrafted wines including benchmark Tempranillos, and Viogniers. A family-owned and operated cellar dedicated to world-class wines, sustainable practices, and Texas Hill Country hospitality. There is an underground winemaking cellar worth a tour, and a tree-covered deck with breathtaking views of Hill Country. Pedernales Cellars offers an exceptional tasting experience featuring classic varietals, including benchmark Viogniers, and Tempranillos. There are 145 acres of oak-shaded land, a large bar with a fixed tasting menu of full spectrum, award-winning wines. The Kuhlken Family owns the winery since 2006, Julie and David founded the winery and produced their first wine in the same year. The tasting room opened in 2008 and offers a premier experience of 100% Texas wines. They have been awarded Top Texas Wine three times in the last six years by the HLSR International Wine Competition, Double Golds on multiple occasions at the San Francisco International Wine Competition, and Grand Gold at the Lyon International Wine Competition. t.

The Duchman Family Winery

The Duchman Family Winery was founded in 2004 by Drs. Lisa and Stan Duchman with a wish to bring world-class winemaking to Central Texas and the Texas Hill Country. They work with growers in the Texas High Plains AVA to produce grapes that allow the winemaker, Dave Reilly to experiment with making wines like Vermentino, Sangiovese, and Dolcetto. The Texas High Plains feature cooler temperatures and a more continental climate ideal to produce fine wine in Central Texas using Texas-grown fruit exclusively. The family winery continues to develop innovative winemaking and grape-growing techniques to provide wine that reflects a taste of Texas for years to come. Duchman Family Winery is one of the top wine destinations in all of Texas and was listed as one of the 20 most picturesque wineries in the country by HGTV. There is a tasting room and a winery hallway with views of the production facilities and wine barrels. and the estate's beautiful grounds are open to the public, oak-shaded picnic tables, and beautiful estate grounds. There are tastings based on availability, by the bottle, glass, or private tastings on the 40-plus acre property, for a unique wine-tasting experience. The beautiful property offers unparalleled views of vineyards, romantic gardens, and picturesque sunsets against the rolling hills of Central Texas.

Driftwood Estate Winery and Vineyards

Driftwood Estate Winery and Vineyard was established in 1998 by Gary Elliott and is the first commercial vineyard in Hays County in the heart of Texas Hill Country. The winery embodies the spirit of Texas and prides its production of high-quality wines that are made from 100% Texas grapes. The winery sits on a bluff and overlooks the beautiful sweeping vineyards and hill country where visitors can enjoy the award-winning wines along with spectacular views. Driftwood Estate Winery and Vineyard has been a veteran owned family run business for 25 years, with vineyards spread throughout 18 acres of grape vines, and produces over 10,000 cases of wine annually. The Driftwood Bistro is located on the grounds of the award winning Driftwood Estate Winery. The menu is an eclectic blend of globally inspired food prepared to compliment the Winery’s wonderful lineup of wines with a rustic and casual atmosphere and million-dollar views that cannot be beaten. There is outdoor seating and some limited indoor seating. Themed-menu dinners regularly are offered throughout the year with four-course dinners by reservation only. The picturesque hill country is the optimal spot to enjoy cool summer breezes with a glass of wine in hand. There are several areas on site for tastings, covered outdoor seating, numerous picnic benches, and lawn chairs, this winery is spacious and peaceful.

Lost Draw Cellars

Lost Draw Cellars is located deep into Fredericksburg and spreads through the Texas High Plains in the Texas Hill Country. The property was originally a Gulf Distribution hub since 1936 it was family-owned for four generations until 2009 when it was turned into the Lost Draw Cellars property. The owners expanded from 5-50 acres, the cellars produced their first vintage in 2012 and opened its tasting room doors in 2014. In 2020 Andrew Sides and his longtime friend and business partner in other endeavors, Chris Brundrett decided to merge their businesses and create William Christ Wine Company which is the flagship brand in the WCWC lineup. Lost Draw will soon open a new facility and tasting rooms in Johnson City, with a 9,000 square foot winery and tasting room designed by local architect firm Michael Hsu Office of Architecture. The property will feature a public tasting room, a club member tasting room, a covered porch, a retail store, offices, and an outdoor bar. Lost Draw Cellars produces quality wines highlighting the terroir of the Texas High Plains. They plant their grapes which thrive in the semi-arid climate of the region and strive to improve the growing process sustainably. Their tasting room is conveniently located off Main Street in Fredericksburg, TX offering a wine-tasting room or an outdoor patio with a rustic relaxed atmosphere. Enjoy some different styles and flavors through wines like Marsanne, Petit Sirah, Grenache, and even GSM wine.

Sand Road Vineyards

Sand Road Vineyards is located near Hye in the Texas Hill Country, a family-owned and operated winery run by two native Texas families, the Sivadon and Chagoly families. The wives are sisters and their family has owned the Dixon Ranch, where Sandy Road Vineyards is located, for almost 100 years. Sandy Roads features 16 acres of grapevines nestled on the 100-acre farm with 8 blocks of grape varietals including Tempranillo, Mencia, Prieto Picudo, Syrah, Grenache, Mourvedre, and Marselan. Nestled on a slightly eastwardly facing hillside that provides great drainage and complex soils, shallow soils, and rocky limestone that transition down the hill into clay and then sand. They focus on grapes that are well suited for the hot and sunny Texas weather which soak up the sun and transform into delicious wine. Sandy Road is a special project that stems from the long-time associate winemaker at Ron Yates Wines and Spicewood Vineyards, Reagan Sivadon. The wines are a creative blend of expert winemaking and passionate farming to grow the best Texas wines. The vineyards offer a VIP-style treehouse tasting overlooking the vineyards which were inspired by the belief that everyone deserves to slow down, relax, and enjoy amazing wine. There is an outdoor private seating area overlooking the vineyard where visitors can learn about what it takes to grow award-winning wines.

William Chris Vineyards

William Chris Vineyards is a collaboration between William “Bill” Blackmon and Chris Brundrett, based on a shared winemaking philosophy and a vision for what the Texas wine industry is capable of. The vineyard offers great Texas wines that are shared with an extended community of friends and family. They produce great vintage wines with confidence, the fruit is harvested, destemmed, crushed, and pressed by the winemakers who use the pre-industrial method of open ai fermentation. The timing of each pick requires an understanding of chemistry coupled with a well-developed palate and good old-fashioned farmer’s intuition. The harvest also depends heavily on mother nature and weather patterns that have a substantial impact on the balance of acidity, sugar content, and flavor profiles in a finished wine. The tasting room offers a portfolio of wines all made with 100% Texas-grown fruit, including red Bordeaux, and Rhone varieties play Tempranillo, Sangiovese, Roussanne, and Marsanne. William Chris Cellars joined with 23 of the leading wine regions of the world to support Truth in Labeling as a part of teh global Wine Origins initiative.

French Connection Wines

French Connection Wines was established in 2018 after months of renovations and updates to the property, their doors opened in 2019. The winery sources its fruit from the Texas High Plains AVA, as well as higher elevation sites in the mountains of West Texas. These locations provide warm sunny days with cooler temperatures at night, this diurnal shift extends the growing season and allows the grapes to fully ripen. The winery focuses on Rhone wines made by Benjamin Calais the winemaker who produces varieties such as Syrah, Mourvedre, Grenache, Petite Sirah, Counoise, Cinsault, Roussanne, Marsanne, Viognier, Picpoul Blanc, and others. The beautiful property offers a long, generous tasting porch with spectacular views of the Texas Hill Country, and a staff that is ready to educate and entertain. There are three “maisonettes” available to book for overnight stays. The winery offers stand-out wines including an approachable Roussanne and the crisp, chillable red Cotes de Hye, and esoteric offerings like a four-year barrel-aged Reserve Roussanne.

Wedding Oak Winery

Wedding Oak Winery is conveniently located in downtown San Saba at the intersection of US 190 and State Hwy 16. They offer a beautiful tasting room in a restored 1926 building and courtyard. The winery takes inspiration from the majestic, 400-year-old oak tree, known as the Wedding Oak that grows about 2.5 miles northwest of the winery. The stately tree has been the symbolic site of numerous ceremonies, and weddings. The winery is deeply committed to Texas viticulture and the wines feature warm-weather varietals such as Tempranillo, Viognier, Trebbiano, Sangiovese, and Muscat Canelli. Mike McHenry the viticulturist and a group of friends began construction on Wedding Oak Winery in 2011, the passion to bring the burgeoning Texas wine industry to the heart of small-town Texas. The historic tasting room offers a 10,000-case winery.

Fall Creek Vineyards

Fall Creek Vineyards is located in Tow in the heart of Texas Hill Country, it was established in 1975 and is one of the oldest vineyards in Texas. Ed and Susan Auler have been in the Texas wine business for over 40 years and were one of the first families to plant vines in Texas. The vineyards sit on the northwest shores of Lake Buchanan boasting many awards and accolades through the decades. The Fall Creek Falls boat tour takes guests out on the water or relax in a shady picnic area and enjoy tasting some spectacular wines. Sergio Cuadra is the Chilean winemaker who came to the vineyards and transitioned to a higher level of quality with vintages that reflect great results from his involvement. The tasting room at the vineyards offers a great selection of light bites like cheese platters, and charcuterie boards accompanied by wonderful wines. Their second tasting room opened in 2014 it sits across the road from Salt Lick BBQ, and collaborates on two wines for the BBQ restaurant’s wine label and tasting room; Salt Lick Cellars. The vineyard’s charming property is comprised of several areas including a giant enclosed patio and a waterfall adjacent deck, in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.

Slate Mill Wine Collective

Slate Mill Wine Collective is located on Highway 16 in Fredericksburg, TX set on an expansive 35 acres with verdant vineyards and includes a 25,000-case capacity winery and a tasting room. The vineyards support a diverse group of winemakers and wines grown throughout Texas with a single shared tasting room experience. The expansive estate features a restored historic homestead, a custom crush facility, and a tasting room that promotes hospitality, wine education, and experimentation and discovery. Slate Mill Wine Collective was recently purchased by Heath Family Brands, which includes Grape Creek Vineyards, Heath Sparkling Wines, Jenblossom Cellars, and Heath Vineyards. The scenic estate offers a relaxed environment where guest can enjoy their wine experience either indoors or outdoors. Slate Mill Wine Collective is now Invention Vineyards with many producers under one roof, a combination production facility and tasting room where winemaker Rae Wilson’s Innovative Wine for the People selections along with highly regarded offerings from Joah Fritsche under both the 1851 and Tatum labels. Slate Theory Winery will join the lineup at some point. The Jones family acquired the Texas-based winery in 2019, they invested in the property with their seven children. The property underwent quite a transformation that includes significantly expanded production facilities, added vineyard acreage, and fully remodeled the tasting room and patio.

Signor Vineyards

Signor Vineyards are nestled in the rolling hills in the heart of central Texas, where the Pedernales River Valley meets Grape Creek. The vineyards focus on growing premium varietal fruit and crafting exceptional, soulful wines reflective of the unique terroir. Joanna’s Market is located at the vineyard featuring snacks, sweets, and gifts. Signor is one of the most beautiful wineries in the Texas Hill Country, spread over 135 acres with large live oak trees, ivy-lined walls and trellises, colorful snapdragon blooms at the entrance, olive trees by the tasting room, and 15 acres of grapes planted on site. The onsite tasting room, a house in a former residence filled with natural light, where the house’s living room is used for tastings. Enjoy a charcuterie plate, and a glass of wine, and head outdoors to sit on the patio. Signor Vineyards serves wine tastings to your table in a beautiful, relaxing tasting venue, each tasting consists of four consecutive pours from an always-evolving selection of the best wines. The servers have excellent guidance and insight and are passionate about the wines they serve and are eager to provide you with an enjoyable experience. Andre Boada is the sommelier at the Elevated Tastings at the vineyards, they offer private and indoor tastings showcasing their five varietals that are paired beautifully with fresh and flavorful bites.

Grape Creek Vineyards

Grape Creek Vineyards was the first winery established in Fredericksburg along Highway 290 in the mid-80s, featuring a massive sun-drenched patio, and clay-tiled roofing, spread over 20 acres of vineyards where grapes such as Montepulciano, and Aglianico. Take a tour of the beautiful property and fuel up on some wine tastings at the on-site Stout’s Trattoria, serving pizza, sandwiches, salads, appetizers, and chees plates. Brian Heath is the owner of Grape Creek and he has plans to open a different tasting room called Heath Sparkling Wines on the property in late summer. A one-stop shop winery that provides guests with tasting options, cellar tours, a beautiful trattoria serving a delicious wood-fired menu, and a shaded patio area. The tasting room and event center provide a romantic atmosphere done with the styling of an Italian Villa. Book a Taste and Tour package that includes a ride in a small vehicle around the expansive verdant vineyards, and a tour of the state-of-the-art production facilities and cellar along with barrel tastings. The estate at Grape Creek Vineyards is charming and decorated with Tuscan-inspired decor, beautifully landscaped patios, fountains, and terraces. The property grew from 2500 cases to 60,000 since 2004 with the help of Jason who is the most decorated winemaker in Texas and has achieved more than 190 scores and approaching 1000 medals from the most prestigious wine competitions in the country.

Solaro Estate

Solaro Estate is an expansive winery high above the clear spring waters of Barton Creek in harmony with vineyards, thoroughbreds, Angus cattle, and spectacular vistas of the Texas Hill Country. The estate is the culmination of generations of winemaking and passion for creating only the finest wines. The “S” in Solaro stands for Solaro, the ancient residence of our family in Italy, and the shape of Austin’s own Barton Creek as its waters border our Estate. The family estate has been established since 1909 as a working, self-sufficient farm dedicated to agriculture. The Estate vineyards today are the result of detailed planning and they use the most ultra-modern equipment and finest technology, the winery was specifically designed to maximize the production of limited quantities of complex and exquisite wines. A state-of-the-art, award-winning, boutique winery and vineyard handcrafting Texas Wines of character and balance from Texas grapes, with a strong commitment to sustainability and environmentally friendly winemaking practices. The Fritz family has been making exquisite wines from the gorgeous hills of Emilia Romagna, Italy for generations, and continues their winemaking tradition in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. Solara Estate has crafted several award-winning wines with the knowledge of their Italian ancestors and some good ol’ Texas flair. They were awarded Texas winery of the Year from 2012-2019, they have exhibited the best of what Texas wine has to offer and have played a crucial role in placing Texas wine regions.

Spicewood Vineyards

Spicewood Vineyards is a boutique winery that focuses on producing estate wines from 32 sprawling acres and a 10-acre vineyard located west of Spicewood in Round Mountain. In 2007 Ron Yates bought the winery, for 15 years he combined his Texas family heritage with his passion for Spanish wines. The wine legacy was started by Ed and Madeline Manigold, who founded one of the first Hill Country wineries in 1992. The team’s dedication is to curate the highest quality wines with 100% Texas-grown grapes. Nestled on Lake Travis, Spicewood Vineyards and winery produce some of the finest award-winning wines, known for their timeless appeal and unique flavor of the Texas hill Country, close to Austin and San Antonio. The winery was founded as one that only produced wines made with estate-grown grapes, they grow their grapes and make wine at the same location giving them the ability to take a very hands-on approach in the vineyard. The original owners, Ed and Madeline Manigold conducted an extensive soil analysis to determine which grape varieties that would thrive in the three soil types found on the estate.

C.L. Butaud

C.L. Butaud is owned by Brook and Randy Hester, and its sister label Pa Pa Frenchy is made with 100% Texas grapes, predominantly from the High Plains. C.L. Butaud and Wine For The People have been sharing their tasting room with guests since 2020, they now feature two separate tasting rooms for the two wineries. Randy and Brooke Hester founded C.L. Butaud in Austin, Texas in 2014, with a mission to create ultra-premium wines entirely from Texas vineyards, building on the experience working at some of the most acclaimed Napa Valley wineries. The Hester’s winemaking journey began in 2006 in Napa Valley. C.L.Butaud has been recognized as a top Texas wine by Texas Monthly, the Texas Department of Agriculture, Austin Monthly, Austin American Statesman, Houston Chronicle, and Forbes, and has been reviewed by Decanter, Wine Advocate, James Suckling, and VinePair, with inclusion in Vine Pair’s 50 Best Wines of 2021, and “30 Best Red Wines to drink in 2022”. The 2017 Tempranillo received a 91-point score by Decanter and the 2019 Desert Willow Mourvedre was named VinePair’s Top 50 Wines of 2021.

Bending Branch Winery

Bending Branch Winery is located near Comfort, Texas in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. Set on 56 scenic acres near the Guadalupe River outside of Comfort, the award-winning wines include Cabernet Sauvignon, Charbono, Petite Sirach, Picpoul Blanc, Tannat, Tempranillo, Sagrantino, and Souzao. The signature grape Tannat quickly emerged as a true champion of Texas terroir. Bending Branch is the Tannat House of Texas, known for its intense wines, made from high acidity in Picpoul Blanc, and the bold tannins in Tannat. The winery was co-founded in 2009 by Winemaker Bob Young, M.D., MPH, and how wife Brenda. The winery was awarded Best of Herd in the 2021 San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo Wine Competition, Grand Champions in the 2020 FWSSR/BRIT Texas Sustainable Winegrowing Competition, and Top Texas Winery in the 2018 Houston Rode Uncorked International Wine Competition.

Fredericksburg Winery

Fredericksburg Winery is located in Fredericksburg along Highway 290, which stretches from Fredericksburg to Johnson City. The Texas Hill Country is home to over 100 wineries and vineyards, Texas is the epicenter of Texas Wine Country. The Fredericksburg Winery has been operated since 1996 by the Switzer Family, who have been making 100% Texas wines made with 100% Texas-grown grapes, their wines are naturally sweetened, using natural sugars from the grapes. Fredericksburg is located in the heart of Texas offering the perfect location in the state for a fun wine weekend. A charming wine town in the Texas Hill Country Viticultural Area that stretches for 15,000 square miles. This family-owned well-rounded winery is located right on Main Street in the small town of Fredericksburg.
