Day 1 in Perth

Welcome to Perth! Upon arrival at the airport, you will go through customs and immigration. Should you opt to purchase a transfer to your hotel; a representative will be waiting for you as you exit immigration. Arrive at your hotel, check-in, and do not give in to jet lag! There is so much for you to see and do!

We recommend you get acquainted with the city, take a stroll through the city center which is packed with dining, shopping, and entertainment options or walk along the beautiful waterfront by the sparkling Swan River or the stunning beaches.

There are several dining options found in Perth`s CBD and along the waterfront all of which have great views, enjoy some delicious local cuisine or opt for some classic fish and chips down by the waterfront. Take a hop-on, hop-off sightseeing tour of the city, and check out some of the wonderful attractions like Perth Zoo, the Aquarium of Western Australia, or the Perth Mint.

Visit the sprawling verdant Kings Park, one of the biggest parks in the world, larger than Central Park in New York City, found right in the heart of Perth. This gorgeous park and botanical gardens in the city`s crown jewel boasting epic views over the Swan River and the skyscrapers of the city. The park's entrance features tall, white trunked trees, and inside the manicured gardens and lawns run for miles with over 2,000 different plant species indigenous to Western Australia.

The park is home to the State War Memorial along with an assortment of cute gift shops and quaint cafes, enjoy a drink and refreshment while absorbing the beautiful surroundings. There are several free tours offered in the park led by trained volunteers, join one for some knowledge on the plants, flowers, birds, and animals of Perth.

Stop in and tour the Art Gallery of Western Australia and the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts, both free to the public and filled with vibrant art and galleries, both places offer free tours and special events along with fun gift shops.

The spectacular Swan River is the flowing heart of Perth, take a sightseeing dinner cruise and admire the beauty of the riverfront and absorb the spectacular scenery including King`s Park, yacht clubs, and some pretty impressive homes. You can take a tour from The Bell Tower, which boasts an observation tower at night. Check out Leederville, which is a buzzing part of the city at night with great boutiques, alfresco dining options, and fun local pubs. Their bar scene in the city has exploded with many vibrant street murals that decorate the outer walls, making for a fun evening out on the town.

Day 2 in Perth

Wake up early and take a morning walk along the river and the Elizabeth Quay and enjoy a delicious breakfast and some coffee at one of the great eateries found here. Australia is famous for its delicious breakfasts and you can expect to find popular menu items such as avocado toast, homemade pastries, and cruffins (croissant-muffin hybrids). If you wish to get your bearings of the city there is a free 90-minute orientation tour offered from the iCity Information Kiosk located in the Murray Street Mall that starts at 9:45 am. The tour will take you to all the highlights of the city center and provide you with information about the city`s history, art, architecture, and gardens.

Head to one of Perth`s beautiful beaches, some of the best in the country are found here great for sunbathing, swimming and other great activities. Scarborough Beach or Cottesloe Beach are the two best beaches and most famous and breathtaking options not far from the city via public transport. The coast of Perth stretches for miles and the soft white inviting sands meet with the stunning transparent turquoise waters. There are many great options and things to discover at each beach, cafes along Cottesloe Beach, snorkeling the vibrant reef at Mettams Pool, calm waters at Leighton Beach, and the huge grassy area and playground at Trigg Beach. Take your pick from these beautiful beaches and spend the day relaxing and enjoying the sun, sea, and sand.

Make your way to the renowned Swan Valley, Western Australia`s oldest wine region home to over 40 vineyards, and some of the country's best wineries and microbreweries spread throughout the verdant hills and valleys. Take a drive or better yet cycle through this stunning region and visit the many cellar doors that offer tastings, famous eateries, wineries, breweries, and distilleries. This area is home to Caversham Wildlife Park where visitors can get up close and personal with friendly koalas and kangaroos.

Head 30 minutes south of Perth to the port town of Fremantle, a unique destination situated at the mouth of the Swan River, home to many interesting blends of colonial heritage buildings and well-preserved architecture like the famous Little Creatures Brewery and Fremantle Prison now a working museum and once the largest surviving convict prison in the entire world. Explore the seafaring history of the town at the Maritime Museum and Shipwreck Galleries. Fremantle is the gateway to Rottnest Island, home of the beloved quokkas which are known as the `happiest animals in the world`, furry marsupials that are friendly and curious.

Take the Rottnest Ferry ride from Fremantle Railway Station and check out the island, there is a great hop-on, hop-off tour offered on the car-free island. The entire tour takes about 1 hour and gives you the opportunity to see everything the island has to offer.

The main streets of Fremantle are fascinating with so many great places to explore, visit some of the great restaurants or cafes for an alfresco dining experience, or go to one of the local pubs for some great pub fare. After a busy day of exploring, head back to your hotel for a restful night`s sleep.

Additional Days in Perth

If you are able to spend additional days in Perth visit Penguin Island, located just 5 minutes off the coast of Rockingham, a 45-minute drive south of the city. Home of the `Little Penguins` or `Fairy Penguins`.

The city of Perth is the host of several annual events worth checking out. The Perth International Arts Festival has been held since 1953, a large cultural festival joined by the Winter Arts Festival, Perth Fringe Festival, and Perth Writers Festival.

Music Festivals such as Listen Out, Origin, and St Jerome`s Laneway Festival are great for the music lovers.

The Perth International Comedy Festival features various local and international talent with performances at the Astor Theatre.

Sculpture by the Sea is held along Cottesloe Beach showcasing a wide range of local and international sculptures.

Your Last Day in Perth

Depart from your hotel to the airport for your return flight home. We recommend that you purchase a private transfer to the airport if so the representative will meet you at your hotel with plenty of time to get you to the airport for your flight out.
