The Ancient city of Petra is located amidst the desert canyons and mountains that form the eastern flank of the Arabah Valley, runs from the Dead Sea to the Gulf of Aqaba. This prehistoric Jordanian City is a remote area surrounded by a barrier of rocks with temples and columns carved into the cliff face. Although there are no actual accommodations found within the ancient city itself there are plenty of hotels and restaurants found just outside the city as well as in the town of Wadi Musa on the eastern side of the mountains. Tourism Street is the main location for the hotels situated closest to the ancient city. Here visitors will find hotels, restaurants, shops and bars, some within walking distance to the impressive rock town.
