TIPPING IN LIECHTENSTEIN

In the U.S. tipping is customary and expected for everything from lackluster to outstanding service. It is an etiquette that is ingrained in all trades, from wait staff at restaurants to our baristas, valets, cab drivers, porters, and many more trades.

The questions `when?` and `how much?` that surround tipping can leave some travelers confused, as the practice varies. This guide attempts to cover most situations that you, as a tourist, will encounter.

Tipping is not expected (although it is appreciated) in Liechtenstein.

Currency: Can I pay in U.S. dollars, or should I use the Swiss Franc?

Swiss franc – CHF (but € are widely accepted as well).

Restaurants: When should I tip? How much is customary?

A service charge will be included in the bill. If service was exceptional then you can round up the total or tip around 5%.

Hotel Staff: Who should I tip?

Tipping in hotels isn’t common in Liechtenstein as a service charge will likely be included.

Taxi Drivers: Should I tip?

A service charge is included in the taxi fare. You don’t have to tip otherwise.

Final Thoughts:

A service charge will be included on all your bills, so no other tips are expected in Liechtenstein!
