Mount Catedral

Mount Catedral or Cerro Catedral, which was named for its summits resembling the spires of a medieval temple, is a mountain located 12 miles away from San Carlos de Bariloche where the largest ski area and resort in South America can be found. The mountain soars over 7,800 feet above sea level providing some of the most exhilarating terrains for skiing in the Southern Hemisphere. A great place to stay with Alpine-Swiss like lodges built into the mountain along with other cabins and hotels and Refugio Lynch, a summertime hikers hut found at the top of the mountain. There is a wide range of skiable slopes spread over 3,000 acres including beginner, intermediate, advanced and expert for skiing and snowboarding. Breathtaking views of the Lake District and the surrounding region can be enjoyed from anywhere on the mountain. The mountain is the host of many international competitions and festivals including the popular downhill torch parade. The main village at the base of Cerro Catedral offers an abundance of hotels and guesthouses with over 5,000 beds, a wide range of restaurants, bars, and shops.

Downtown

Downtown Bariloche sits on the shores of Lake Nahuel Huapi boasting spectacular views over the sparkling blue waters and the surrounding mountain area. This pretty town is decorated with Swiss-alpine style architecture, which is especially present around the Civic Center in the heart of Bariloche. A popular tourist destination and a great base for exploring the mountains and the lake district where fly fishing, boating, hiking, and kayaking are just a few of the activities that can be enjoyed. There is plenty of accommodation available in the city including 5-star hotels, hostels, and guesthouses. Mitre Street is the main street in the town bursting with restaurants, bars, galleries and Bariloche`s famous chocolate shops. The city boasts a happening nightlife with plenty of bars and breweries on every corner. There is even a beach situated just 5 miles away from downtown with dramatic views of the lake and vistas.

Outskirts

On the outskirts of downtown Bariloche is Playa Bonita `Beautiful Beach` lined with palm trees and backed by many hotels, restaurants, bars and watersport rentals. The spectacular Lake District region of Argentina is one of the most beautiful areas in all of South America with surrounding lush green forests, majestic mountains, and expansive sparkling lakes. There are so many activities to be enjoyed in the great outdoors and on the lakes that make the outskirts a great place to stay and explore the endless opportunities.

Perito Moreno Lake

Perito Moreno Lake is an area situated within the Los Glaciares National Park in the department of Bariloche. A popular tourist destination, with the tourist towns of Colonia Suiza and the Llao Llao Peninsula and other popular attractions like Lopez Hill and Lopez Bay, which boasts some of the most beautiful landscapes in the region. The lake is a great area for fly fishing as well as swimming, kayaking, and boating, there are several beaches along its shores.
