Flores

The vibrant picturesque town of Flores sits on a small island on Lake Peten Itza, in the middle of the Maya Biosphere Reserve, in Guatemala. Flores is the gateway to the ancient Mayan city of Tikal with its impressive pyramids nestled in the jungle. The tiny island town boasts beautiful lakeside views and stunning landscapes with access to the cultural and archaeological sites in the area. Flores is an authentic town decorated with pastel-colored houses and offers visitors plenty of accommodations, restaurants, cafes, and shops. The lake offers visitors a chance to get out on the water on board canoes or boats where an abundance of wildlife can be seen. The sparkling lake waters are also great for swimming on hot days and Jorge`s rope swing is a popular activity on the lakeside, where a restaurant is located. There is a causeway connecting Flores to is sister town of Santa Elena located on the mainland.

Peten Itza Lakeside

Lake Peten Itza is a beautiful lake situated in the northern Peten Department in Guatemala, it is the second largest lake in the country measuring 20 miles in length and 3 miles wide. The Peta Itzan lakeside region is a popular place for visitors to stay giving them easy access to the ancient Mayan city of Tikal. There are three small towns that sit on the lakeshores, Flores is the island in the southwestern portion of the lake, San Benito in the southwest and San Andres on the northwestern shorelines. The landscapes that fringe the sparkling lake are mostly made up of lush verdant tropical rainforest where cocoa, sugarcane, grains, and tropical fruits are grown. There are some great accommodations nestled on the lakeside providing guests with breathtaking views and the sounds of the calming waters. The lakefront boasts restaurants and bars with outdoor seating, making them the perfect spot to capture a spectacular sunset.

Petenchel Lagoon

Laguna Petenchel is also known as Laguna Petensil and Laguna de Petenxil is a small lake located in the northern department of El Peten in Guatemala. The villas and resorts found in this area provide guests with secluded surroundings and lakeside views with an abundance of wildlife and interesting sites to discover.
