Town Center

Nazareth is the largest Arab town in Israel and according to the New Testament, Jesus spent his childhood here, it became a center of Christian pilgrimage, home to many sights and attractions. The city’s layout is centered around the huge basilica, a landmark in the city, most things in the city are within walking distance of the beacon topped basilica with hotels, restaurants, shops, and more can be reached. The Old City is famous for its traditional souq attracting visitors from all over the country brimming with traditional Arabic produce and souvenirs. The city is decorated with charming winding cobblestone streets that lead to historic pilgrimage sites, workshops, churches, and little cafes, a great way to get a sense of the lifestyle in Israel. There is a wide range of accommodations found in Nazareth including many hotels in the center of the city allowing easy access to attractions. Casa Nova Street is by the basilica and is one of the main bustling streets in the city filled with restaurants, hotels, cafes, shops, and the Tourist Information Office.

Outskirts

The outskirts of Nazareth includes some interesting neighborhoods such as the new, modernized Nazareth Elit which is north of the city center, a government-planned Jewish community that offers some cozy accommodations. The Zippori neighborhood dates back 2,000 years when it was a thriving city, it is located 3 ¾ miles from the city center and is home to a fascinating archeological park and some convenient accommodations. The Yizreel Valley houses some of the oldest and best-known sites in Israel and is a great place to base yourself when visiting the city. The landscapes here are beautifully filled with sprawling vineyards, verdant vegetable fields, and vibrant fruit trees, a breathtaking quilt of colors.
