In the last few years, Madrid has gained the reputation of being one of Europe's most active and attractive cities for its nightlife and cultural activities. Capital of Spain since 1562, Madrid's museums host, among others, Dalis, Miros and Picasso's Guernica. Madrid is a city of great contrasts: the Old City, the Madrid of the Hapsburgs, the Royal Palace, the Puerta de Alcala, the Retiro Park. Fatima
Fatima has welcomed Catholic pilgrims and visitors of all faiths for 100 years. The legend of Fatima began in 1917, when three shepherd children, Lucia, Jacinta and Francisco, witnessed a series of Marian apparitions, culminating in a spectacle witnessed by 70,000 people that many labeled `a miracle`. The area where the children saw the Virgin Mary is now called the Sanctuary, and many chapels and basilicas are located here.
