Tens of thousands of tourists each year flock to the region in and around Sucevita in northern Romania to see the beautiful Churches of Moldavia (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), of which Sucevita`s best-known is the eponymous Sucevita Monastery. Sucevita Monastery dates from the late sixteenth century and is the only church left in Romania to feature full exterior frescoes painted in the Moldavian decorative style.
