Next is Arenal Volcano (youngest and one of the most active stratovolcano in Costa Rica, near Lake Arena); and finally, Tamarindo Beach (the most famous beach in Costa Rica, a three and a half kilometer stretch of white sand and warm blue water). There are no roads leading here, so visitors arrive either by boat or plane, which has helped to preserve the area's pristine environment and ecosystems. Tortuguero's shoreline is also one of the world's most important nesting sanctuaries for Sea Turtles.

  • Arenal Volcano
