La Fortuna

La Fortuna is the name of a small city located in San Carlos, in the province of Alajuela, Costa Rica. La Fortuna is Spanish for `The Fortune`, and appropriately named due its abundant supply of tourist attractions and extremely fertile lands. Although there is a common myth that the town got its name due to its sparring from the Arenal Volcano`s eruptions, the town actually got its name before the latest eruption cycle and was named for the fertile lands (the fortune) where it is located. Tourist attractions include Arenal Volcano, Cerro Chato Volcano, La Fortuna Waterfall, and Penas Blancas River.

Tabacon

Set in the rainforest, Tabacon Hot Springs provide a perfect combination of quantity, warmth, and low mineral content. The hot springs are divided into five pools where visitors can gaze at the stunning Arenal Volcano. Whether you are seeking a romantic otherworldly experience in the Costa Rican rainforest or are looking to explore the natural beauty, the Tabacon area will leave everlasting memories. Tourist sites Tabacon Hot Springs, Titoku Hot Springs, Arenal Natura Ecological Park, Eco-Termales Hot Springs, and Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge. Activities include white-water rafting in Sarapiqui River, rappelling along waterfalls, or ziplining above the treetops in one of several canopy tours.

Lake Arenal

Lake Arenal is a lake situated in the northern highlands east of Arenal Volcano and is the largest lake in Costa Rica. From November to through April the strong winds attract windsurfers. Many consider Lake Arenal one of the foremost windsurfing and kite surfing areas in Costa Rica. Wakeboarding is also gaining popularity with Lake Arenal leading the way. Stand up paddle boats and kayaking are popular activities on the eastern part near the dam. There is great fishing (primarily for rainbow bass and machaca) and even kayak fishing in the shallow coves. The area around the lake has great hiking, biking, bird watching and horseback riding. Tourist attractions include Lake Arenal, Sky Adventures Arenal Park, and the hanging bridges.
