Baduy is an optional place for holiday during stay in Jakarta, Drive by car into 3 hours. After arrived proceed by our representative to have the administration and explore the area by sightseeing their house and people, then track the hill up and down and snap the picture into 5-8 km. During the Japanese occupation of the Dutch East Indies, the building became the residence of Rear Admiral Tadashi Maeda until the arrival of the Allies in Indonesia in September 1945, when the building was used by the British as the military HQ. The building was rented by the English Embassy from 1961 until 1981 when the building was given to the Indonesian Department of Education and Culture on December 28, 1981. The National Monument or popularly abbreviated as Monas or Tugu Monas is a 132 meter (433 ft) tall monument that was erected to commemorate the resistance and struggle of the Indonesian people to seize independence from the Dutch East Indies colonial government. The construction of this monument began on August 17, 1961 under the order of President Sukarno and was opened to the public on July 12, 1975. The monument was crowned with flames covered in gold sheets which symbolized a burning spirit of struggle. The National Monument is located right in the middle of Medan Merdeka Square, Central Jakarta.

3: Pelabuhan Sunda Kelapa

Sunda Kelapa, better known as Pasar Ikan (meaning fish market) is located at the mouth of the Ciliwung River. The fish catch of the day was auctioned in the early morning at the old fish market. The street leading to it was lined with shops selling all sorts of shells, dehydrated turtles, lobsters and mostly everything the seafarer might need. This 500-year-old harbor area was a vital link to markets of the outside world for the 15th century kingdom of Pajajaran. It was formerly the harbor town of Sunda Kelapa where the Portuguese traded with the Hindu Kingdom of Pajajaran in the early 16th century. Since than this port has belonged to the portuguese and Dutch.

Dutch domination of Jakarta and the rest of Indonesia began from this area, whereas the remnants of Kasteel Batavia, an old fort and trading post of the Dutch East Indies Company can still be seen now. Sunda Kelapa is at present a fisherman's wharf and an inter island port. Tall-misted Bugis schooners from South Sulawesi anchoring there offer a picturesque scene. They belong to one of the last-fleets of sailboats in the world and still ply the seas between the islands, as they did centuries ago, carrying merchandise.

Tough little remains of bustling old Sunda Kelapa except the name, the harbor is still one of the most important calls for sailing vessels from all over Indonesia. The magnificent and brightly painted Makassar schooner called Pinisi is still an important means of transporting goods to and from the outer islands. This is one of the finest sights in Jakarta.

Wander around the old Sunda Kelapa port, watching gangs of sinew-stretched coolies smoking pungent clove-laced cigarettes unload cargos of timber, coal and spices from stunning wooden schooners. Hire a dugout canoe and paddlers and enjoy the waterside scenery. The boats also go to the nearby old fish market, which can be reached easily by foot from the port and is free to enter. Work starts here at 3am and it's essential to arrive by 6am to see the best of the action.

4: Glodok Chinatown

Besides Singkawang and Semarang, Jakarta also has a bustling Chinatown complex ahead of Lunar New Year, as well as Tangerang. Chinatowns in Jakarta and Tangerang will of course also be festive with decorations and red attributes.

There is no need to go far to China to see Chinese New Year celebrations. For those of you who live in the capital and surrounding areas, you can stop by in Chinatown in the Glodok 9th plot, as well as the Lama Market in Tangerang.

WHAT TO EXPECT

1: Pelabuhan Sunda Kelapa

Sunda kelapa harbour was the oldest harbour in Jakarta built by Hindu Kingdom time. This harbour was the main gate of Jakarta and still exist until now for domestic cargo.
In this harbour we will boating along the canal with the traditional boat owned by local people and getting closely by visiting the Indonesian traditional wooden boat (phinisi), the fisherman boat , and visit the big wooden boat also meet with the local people works at the harbour.

2: Merdeka Square

Merdeka Square is the big square located on the down town of the city in central of jakarta. At the square we will stop for picture at the President palace (white house of Indonesia. Photo stop only in front of the palace), stop and little walk at National Monument (icon of Indonesia), and passing sight the government building surrounding the monument at the square.

3: Glodok Chinatown

At Glodok (China Town) we will visit the oldest chinese temple (petak sembilan) or Dharma Bhakti temple that was built on 1650 and become one of the oldest temple in Jakarta. From the temple we will continue enjoying the wet market (china town market) to see the local people activities at the market and see the items that sell at the market with various items such as vegetables, fish, fruits, grocery, and many more.
On China town we also will tasting the local food and local fruits from Indonesia.

4: Jakarta Old Town

enjoying the jakarta old town called Kota tua, the city with Dutch buildings and dutch history. In this place, we will walking along the canal, enjoy the square (stadhuis) as the old city hall of Jakarta at Fatahillah square.
This old city was busy area on weekend where the local visit like to come and visit and enjoy the ambience.

5: National Monument (MONAS)

This is the landmark of jakarta, 132 meters heigh with symbol of indonesian spirit fighting with colonial time. At the top of this monument was 50 kg of gold. We just stop here for photo stop and short walking at the park.

6: Istiqlal Mosque

Istiqlal mosque is the biggest Mosque in southeast Asia. One of the most popular highlight in jakarta.
When you visit the mosque, we will have tour of this mosque with the official staff that will explain to us about the mosque, about the Muslim in Indonesia. You also will enjoy the beautiful architecture of this mosque on the main praying room.

Please note istiqlal mosque close on friday for religious purpose.

7: Jakarta Cathedral

Located at the front side of Istiqlal mosque. Katedral church was beautiful catholic church with neo gothic style. The church and istiqlal mosque was symbol of unity of indonesia. On the church you will see the design of this church with european typical church.
