It is renowned for its culinary specialties, the oldest street and a treasury of traditional architecture); and then, Chiayi (a city located in the plains of southwestern Taiwan, best known as the access point of the scenic mountain area of Alishan). Continue to Taitung (is on the southeast coast of Taiwan. It’s known for Peinan Cultural Park, the site of a number of buried Neolithic slate coffins first excavated in the 1980s and displayed at the National Museum of Prehistory) Kaohsiung (known as "Taiwan's Maritime Capital"; it is the island's largest industrial center, with the Taiwan`s biggest night market, coolest metro station and unusual temples). • Magong

Magong may not be as popular as other cities in Taiwan, but don't let that fool you. Magong City is a smaller but beautiful upcoming tourist destination that is worth a visit. You will be surprised by some of the unique things to do and places you can explore at this hidden destination. You can definitely plan a few hours of a side trip here while traveling to Taichung or Kaohsiung. You might wish to revisit it someday again, to take a break and relax at Magong City. Magong is the only city in the offshore Penghu Islands of Taiwan. The city has many historical sites tracing back to the Ming Dynasty.

Discover the great Shili Beach, Mazu Temple, Penghu Living Museum, Penghu Guanyin Temple, Chang Yu-sheng Memorial Museum and much more.

  • Chiayi

Chiayi's attractions are mostly of cultural and historical interest. Foremost among these is Lantan, which used to be called "foreigner's stockade". Chiayi Park and Botanical Gardens are a lovely way to spend the afternoon. The Botanical Gardens provide pleasant trails that weave you through a large variety of plants and trees native to the area. Chiayi park is well-maintained and serves as a center of activity for local adults and children. Bordered by mountains on one side and the sea on the other, Chiayi County is the only county in Taiwan with three major national scenic areas: Alishan National Scenic Area, Southwest Coast National Scenic Area, and Siraya National Scenic Area, each presenting a unique view of nature's wonders, from mountains to plains to ocean views. Visit and discover the great Hinoki Village, Alishan National Scenic Area, Chiayi Park, Wenhua Road Night Market, Confucius Temple, Lantan Lake, Sun-Shooting Tower, Chiayi Old Prison, Chiayi Municipal Museum, and so much more.

  • Taitung

Not only is Taitung a wonderful destination in itself, but it's also a great gateway to Taiwan's east coast, whether you visit in the middle of a road trip, or use it as a jumping-off point for one. Taitung is one of the major cities in the east coast of Taiwan, and is the county seat of the government of Taitung County. From coastal areas to mountain highs, Taitung greets visitors to a land of ecological richness and scenic beauty. The county is also known for its distinctive local products, from premium rice, day lilies, hibiscus, and sugar apples to sailfish, bonito (skipjack tuna), and other specialty seafood items. Visit and discover the great National Museum of Prehistory, Taitung Forest Park, Zhiben Hot Spring, Beinan Site, Railway Art Village, International Landmark (Seaside Park), and so much more.

  • Kaohsiung

Kaohsiung, the second-largest city in Taiwan (the Republic of China), is a modern metropolis located on the island's southwestern coast. It offers beautiful mountains such as the Eighteen Arhat Mountains, the "Moon World" badland terrain, the famous Love River flowing across the city, and also the Port of Kaohsiung, which is the largest harbor in Taiwan. Visit and discover the great Lotus Pond, Dragon and Tiger Pagodas, Liuhe Night Market, Love River, Chimei Museum, Fo Guang Shan Buddha, Old British Consulate at Takow, 85 Sky-tower, Pier2 Art Center, Eighteen Arhat Mountains, Ruifeng Night Market, and so much more.
