Isla Bastimentos

Bastimentos is a sprawling twenty-four square mile tropical Island boasting stunning beaches and jungle-clad interiors. Hidden hillside hideaway resorts are dotted around the island and tiny idyllic huts powered by solar panels provide peaceful and serene accommodations for visitors. The island is only a 10-minute water taxi ride away from the main island of Bocas del Toro where plenty of restaurants, stores, and nightlife options can be enjoyed.

Bastimentos is like another world, with palm fringed beaches and vibrant coral filled waters, which are home to an abundance of sea life, a true tropical paradise. The land and waters of this stunning island provide plenty of activities for visitors including hiking in the verdant jungle spotting all kinds of wildlife including the poisonous red dart frog or snorkeling in the clear blue sea surrounded by all kinds of sea life such as the nesting leatherback sea turtles.

Isla Colon Outskirts

Bocas del Toro is the gateway to the surrounding archipelago of stunning remote islands set among the glistening turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. Carenero, Bastimentos and Zapatilla Islands are a few of the idyllic tropical paradises that visitors can escape to. These islands boast remote accommodations usually in the form of quaint bungalows that sit over the water offering the most breathtaking views and spectacular surroundings. Spending time on the outskirts of Isla Colon provide visitors with lots of daily activities amongst nature and peaceful evenings.

Isla Colon Town

Isla Colon or Bocas Town is the main tourist town on the main island of Bocas del Toro. This small Caribbean town is home to the main port, where passengers catch their water taxis to the nearby islands and the main airport. The main town features grocery stores, restaurants, bars and shops along with the main post office and other businesses. Bocas town is small and easy to get around with a grid-like setup, Avenidas run east to west and Calles run north to south. A bustling center during the day with dive shops open along the main strip, as well as the marketplaces and waterfront restaurants. It is a vibrant place during the evening time with a reputation as a party town. There are beaches such as Isla Colon to enjoy during the daytime and plenty of tours operators providing trips to the neighboring islands along with other activities. Main St or Calle Principal is the main strip stretching from one end of the town to the other horizontal to the sea. This center including 1st, 2nd, and 3rd street is where most of the hotels and accommodations can be found in Bocas Town. Many of the town`s eateries are also located here, including restaurants and bars over the water that offer great happy hour specials.
