Day 1 on Castaway Island

Welcome to Castaway Island! Upon arrival at the airport, you will go through customs and immigration. Should you opt to purchase a transfer to your hotel; a representative will be waiting for you as you exit immigration. Arrive at your hotel, check in and do not give in to jet lag! There is so much for you to see and do!

We recommend you get acquainted with the island and explore your amazing accommodations and scenic surroundings of the private Castaway Island Resort. Take a leisurely stroll through the lush beachside setting and check out one of the onsite restaurants. There are four restaurants to choose from at the resort, each one offering their own unique setting most boasting beach and ocean views. Sit back and soak in the stunning tropical views, sip on a tropical cocktail and dine on some delicious local Fijian cuisine.

There are several ways to spend the rest of your day unwinding and exploring the beautiful scenic grounds and sparkling tropical beaches found on the island. Spend some time relaxing by one of the swimming pools at the resort, sunbathe and cool off in the wonderful refreshing waters.

The resort offers an abundance of free facilities and activities including a tennis court, beach volleyball, windsurfing, canoeing, snorkeling, and catamarans. Get out on the waters with a canoe, paddleboard or kayak and see the marine life and vibrant corals from a different perspective, you can even paddle around the entire perimeter of the island. Try some windsurfing or relax in one of the beachside hammocks and read a book, the possibilities are endless.

After an afternoon of relaxing and exploring the amenities of the resort make your way to the Sundowner Bar and Grille, the perfect setting to capture your first Fijian Sunset. The restaurant is located on the beachfront and serves up delicious food and wood-fired pizzas along with a long list of tropical cocktails. Enjoy the evening watching the sun sink down and then sitting under the stars.

Day 2 on Castaway Island

Begin your day with a stroll along the soft sands of the beautiful beach and breath in the fresh ocean air as you take in the spectacular surroundings of the island. Visit one of the restaurants on-site for a delicious fresh breakfast and coffee to start your day. Head to one of the inviting swimming pools for a dip and a swim before making plans for the rest of your day.

There is an endless number of activities to partake in whilst on Castaway Island. Today we suggest taking a boat ride just offshore to explore some of the magical coral reefs and dive sites available. There are over 30 dive sites that can be accessed within just a 20-minute boat ride from the island, there is a PADI five star Gold Palm dive facility that caters to all divers of all standards on the island that offer this trip.

Snorkeling is also an option on these trips where you can see an assortment of tropical fish and other marine life along with the beautiful vibrant coral reefs that are located just offshore. The island on Mondriki is a 20-minute speedboat ride from Castaway Island, this is where the film `Castaway` featuring Tom Hanks was filmed. This locations plus several other islands close by are great destinations for snorkeling.

The island`s PADI Dive Center is also a place where visitors of all ages can learn to dive and visit some nearby sites just offshore.

Enjoy a beachside lunch or picnic with refreshments out on one of the tropical islands of the Mamanuca chain. Soak up the breathtaking scenery and views of the crystal clear waters on your boat ride back to the mainland.

Once back at the resort, relax and pamper yourself with a trip to the spa on-site where you can bask in a number of spa treatments. Additionally, you can enjoy a traditional Fijian massage with fragrant Fijian oils in the privacy of your bure or private massage bures by the ocean or adults-only pool.

Take a relaxing walk through the picturesque trails to the top of the mountain which is a stunning spot to capture another breathtaking sunset. The trails lead through lush green rainforests filled with plenty of flora and fauna and the Castaway summit provides unobstructed views over the resort, island and the beautiful ocean.

Tonight for dinner visit the Water`s Edge Restaurant at the resort restaurants area. The romantic setting amongst enchanting ocean vistas provides the ideal setting for a relaxing meal. The menu choices offer anything from fish and chips and club sandwiches to a large buffet all made with locally sourced organic produce and imported ingredients.

Day 3 on Castaway Island

Start your day early with a sunrise beach yoga session. The morning yoga sessions held by an experienced instructor appeal to all activity levels. Set up on the soft white sands, and watch the sunrise over the South Pacific Ocean will help put a little `Namaste` in your day! Head over to the Water`s Edge Restaurant to enjoy a delicious healthy breakfast from the buffet filled with tropical fruits, island baked pastries and freshly cooked eggs.

Do some shopping! There is a quaint boutique found at the resort selling island fashion, jewelry, souvenirs and more. Alternatively, head off-site for a cultural shopping experience, visit the local village of Yaro where you can meet local villagers and see real island life and how the locals live. Take a tour of the village and partake in a kava ceremony, check out the shell market and pick up some authentic local souvenirs.

You can spend the rest of the day doing as little or as much as you choose, the resort has many complimentary activities to offer. You can relax in the comfort of your bure, many offering ocean and beach views and filled with traditional Fijian decor and spacious veranda`s where you can sit back, relax and take in the spectacular sights and sounds of the island.

Tonight for dinner, make your way to the award-winning Restaurant 1808 for a truly unique outdoor dining experience. The menu is filled with a variety of delicious and healthy Fijian dishes cooked by award-winning chefs using local organic ingredients from organic farms in Fiji and Cataway`s herb garden.

Day 4 on Castaway Island

Today take an adventurous boat ride out to an even more amazing location, Cloud9 a floating party platform with a bar, wood-fired pizzas, sundecks and sunbeds with a live DJ. The float is about 15 minutes away by boat from Castaway Island and on a clear day can even be seen from the resort. This floating platform is a popular day-trip destination situated on Ro-Ro Reef, part of the Mamanuca Island archipelago. Surrounded by the tranquil turquoise waters are great for swimming, snorkeling and jumping from the platform, international DJs perform here regularly.

CloudBreak, Fiji is a fantastic destination for those individuals looking to catch some waves! Castaway Island is just minutes away from CloudBreak, Wilkes Passage, Desperation and Restaurants breaks which are all famous surfing spots.

After a busy fun-filled morning out at sea, spend the remainder of your day relaxing on the gorgeous beaches the encircle the 174-acre Castaway Island. Soak in the warm sunshine, while taking shade under a swaying palm tree and reading a book, doze off in a hammock swinging between the trees and take a dip in the beautiful warm waters that lap the shoreline.

When the pleasant evening temperatures blow in, take a seat at one of the beachside bars and order a refreshing, tropical cocktail while you watch the sunset. Enjoy some delicious Asian cuisine for dinner at the Asian-inspired fine dining 1808 Restaurant, where guests can enjoy a unique dining experience right on the beach with their feet in the sand with views of the sea. After dinner, listen to some live Fijian music and dance under the moonlight.

Additional Days in Castaway Island

If you are able to spend additional days in Castaway Island make your way to Yasawa Island, a simply stunning remote region in Fiji. The remote islands consist of a chain of 20 ancient volcanic islands, four of them feature dramatic monoliths surrounded by clear lagoons. There are around 30 luxurious resorts that are spread throughout the islands that feature spectacular accommodations and amenities.

If you are staying at Castaway Island resort on a Wednesday take part in a traditional Fijian, ITaukei culture featuring special activities including cooking classes, a `Meke` show with song and dance and a Fijian earth oven (lovo) where meat is cooked for the dinner buffet.

On the last Thursday of every month, the resort offers a coral planting excursion, where guests can participate in planting a football field-sized area of coral. Divers go down to the sites of the coral projects and plant the new coral that guests prepare in planters onshore, a unique and rewarding experience.

Your Last Day in Castaway Island

Depart from your hotel to the airport for your return flight home. We recommend that you purchase a private transfer to the airport if so the representative will meet you at your hotel with plenty of time to get you to the airport for your flight out.
